I am worried about my eyes on a few occasions over the last few months I wake up or walk into a room and see what looks like smoke filling the room,after panicing thinking there is a fire I soon began to realise there isn't and it is my eyes playing tricks on me do you know what is wrong?

I wonder if you could have a corneal problems like fuch's corneal dystrophy, or perhaps you are sleeping with contacts in and getting corneal edema. If you have swelling of the cornea it will make it appear as if it is foggy or misty. I advise you to have a complete exam with an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
