macular degeneration?

I went to the eye doc today to check out my eyes. turns out the doc said he noticed pigmentations on my right now, he said it should be a clear film. when he showed me the picture, i saw 4 white dots instead of the regular one dot he said should be present. however, my vision is 20/20. i'm only 19 right now. he also said it could lead to macular degeneration, which is unusual at my age. I would like to know if the problem is not as bad as the doctor told me, and how is it possible for a person my age to get such a eye problem.

If you saw a non-MD, non-physician, non-full service eye provider (called an optometrist) I strongly suggest you see a MD, physician, Full service ophthalmologist. There is a massive difference in the quality of the exam you receive. Find one at www.aao.org

It sounds like you have hard macular drusen. With no other findings they are generally not considered a pre-cursor of age related macular degeneration.

You might as well learn now that youth is not an absolute guarentee against health problems.
