I concur with the ophthalmologist's recommendation that you should consult with some of the above-mentioned excellent eye institutes; Estelle Doheny, however, is at USC not UCLA.

You also mentioned that you hate starting over.  I quite understand your reluctance, frustration, and fatigue, but all doctors are not created equal, and you owe it to yourself to find a neuro-ophthalmologist who can help you.

Finally, all of your scans, tests, biopsies are your property, so don't let that yoke you to an ophthalmologist who isn't working for you.

Best of luck.

You need to learn as much as possible about this problem you have. Use search and archives to access the discussions we've had on these two eye forums.

This is a decent reference:

You only have two options:
1. Continue with your present neuro-ophthalmologist but demand better communication and some sympathy and empathy.
2. Transfer to a differnt group of physicians. The Department of Ophthalmology at a nearby medical school would be a good place to go. Ask your family GP about a referral. You can also go to www.aao.org and find one near you.
3, Go to a world class eye center like Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins-Wilmer Eye Institute, U of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Emory University in Atlanta, Estelle Doheney at UCLA, etc

A recent article I read in the eye medical journals recommended an orbital biopsy. If you have not had one you might want to discuss it with your team.
