catharact operation aftermath

Hi,  I am a 65 year old fit lady with very high myopia on my left eye (-19) and -9 on my right eye.
Two days ago I had phakoemulsification and iol surgery on my left eye as I couldn't wear contact lenses comfortably and had many floaters. My eye is still very red, but with very, very little pain and no discharge. My concern is that my vision is quite distorted/ondular, even though for the first time since I was born, I can 'see'  much clearer  and defined, with still large floaters though, especially in the centre. It seems I am not focusing when using both eyes, it seems I am using only the right eye. I can only see with the left eye if I cover the right one. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Thank you very much for your reply.
It's now day 4 post op. Still no change vision-wise: distorted images, with several floaters. I have appointment at Moorfields hospital (where I had op) on September the 6th. What you said, that this is quite normal has reassured me a bit and I'll just try to be patient and hope for the best.

This actually sounds very normal. Is there a plan to operate on the right eye? Also, the results of cataract surgery take a few days to really help. Be patient. On the other hand if you are experiencing loss of vision in the new eye, then go seek help. You should have been seen by your ophthalmologist already? If not, go seek their assistance.

Best wishes,
