retinal care -prophylaxis

To, Dr JCH

Resp.Sir,
I underwent Rt.eye retinal surgery - scleral buckling 9 weeks back
I have some floaters in my Left eye also.
I am doing regular eye check up with my retinal opthalmologist
Is there any prophylactic treatement by which we can avoid retinal detachment in future.

The Eye MD will sometimes find weak spots in the eye that has not had an RD that are sealed with laser or freezing treatment.

Next time in ask the retina Eye MD if you should restrict any activities. I often tell patients with RD, retina holes, lattice or highly nearsighted to not do amusement rides that whip head around (like Disney Rides), wear eye protection for contact sports and racquet sports and of course have an annual dilated eye exam by a MD physician ophthalmologist.
