Forgot to add there is a thyroid forum on here that may be able to help a bit more with the problems you may have with hypothyroidism. You might want to post there as well.

Do you participate in the FFB's (Foundation Fighting Blindness) annual walk? That's a great way to meet fellow RP patients and a good way to help raise money to fund research so that one day there may be a cure!
Also, I don't know what you can and can't see so I don't know if you've received O&M or any other ADL assistance, but if you have than you should contact your case worker to see if there are any support groups out there.
I don't have RP, but I've worked with a colleague who does. However, I've had my own share of vision problems and am learning to adapt with certain challenges. I've received some O&M and am thinking about learning braille.
As far as the hypothyroidism goes, I am afraid I have absolutely no experience with it other than once having blood test to measure the TSH levels due to a possibility that I may have hypothyroidism, it turned out that my body was just reacting horribly to the tapering of prednisone so the dosage had to be adjusted a bit more carefully.
In any case, I hope you are able to find the support you need. Take care.
