two years ago I had a retinal detachment.dr. put the gas bubble in and next day did laser surgery. I have had severe pain in my eye since then. Dr. insists that the pain must be nerve damage. Nothing she can do. can you?

I think you should see a comprehensive ophthalmologist who can look into other causes of the pain such as keratopathy, uveitis, glaucoma, etc.  The retinal specialist has the main job of re-attaching your retina and he or she may need some help from another general ophthalmologist to deal with your discomfort which could be due to multiple causes.  Good Luck.

Did she say the pain would go away after a while? If she says there is nothing she can do, see a retinologist for a second opinion. Find one at www.aao.org.

I am not a doctor. I am just trying to be helpful. The doctor will review your post, also.

I am sorry you are experiencing pain, and have not gotten the information you need.
