sorry I had cataract surgery

50 years old, LASIK 11 years ago went from -12 to 20/20. aggressive cataracts in both eyes removed 20 months ago. mono-focal iol implanted- I was never told or asked about preferences. Vision is horrible and getting worse.Have every higher order distortion and aberration  possible. Right explanted  due to tilt, shift and out of sac 10 months ago.Left needs to be explanted-same reason. Many eyeglasses- bifocals, progressive, IPSEO and contacts (hard, soft, gas perm , DUETTE) with no relief. now in 22mm scleral lens but this works only for a few hours a day and at 1 focal point only and they hurt. Now being told multi-focal piggyback might be option but not done in the US yet. Any info on this iol? any other suggestions or new iols that might be helpful?

Very possible-but no surgeon- And I have seen no less than 20- will admit to that. Most don't even want to chance touching my eyes given the MD who did the surgery in the ifrst place.

In general, a monofocal IOL is preferred after LASIK, so as not to induce further decreased contrast sensitivity.  Your particular situation is more complicated due to the positioning of the implants.  You did not say where you live, but I would consult Richard Mackool in NY, Michael Snyder in Cincinnati, Samuel Masket in LA, or Mark Packer in Oregon.

Just a thought...could it perhaps be the surgeon's fault due to poor placement/installation of lenses ???
