sudden acuity change in near & distant vision

Shortly after a routine eye exam 1 month ago, my vision changed; including a brief episode of nausea and sweats, while driving home.  My eyes were very sore for about 7 days; had a recheck; Dr. asserts exam was not the cause; I was on my 7th day of augmentin at time of exam for a UTI.  Saw a new opthamologist, who diagnosed blepharitis; with no explanation of the vision change.  Help!  Concerned and looking for a cause for this sudden change; prior to exam I could watch TV from 8 ft. without glasses; now I need them for TV viewing and driving.  Should I have an MRI to detect any nerve damage or changes?  He said the cornea had "irregularities."

One more note - sometimes a systemic medication like topamax or prednisone can make vision terribly blurry. Look into a possible medication side effect.

I'm unclear what is going on here.  The exam wouldn't really give you a new disease or diagnosis so obviously something is going on.  To set you mind at ease, I suggest seeing another ophthalmologist so see what is going on, because I sense that you have lost confidence in the last one.  Maybe you have diabetes or glaucoma or an allergic reaction to one of the drops at the office.  Sorry, I can;t offer much more.  Somewhat vague symptoms, unclear cause.  Don't be discouraged, if no answers, ask another doctor.
