Dear evengeline,

It is important to have yearly eye check ups. If your glass prescription is less than two years old and your vision was good, it might not be much of an issue.

In my state, an eyeglass prescription is good for 2 years.  Were the new glasses that you lost made from the "expired" prescription?  If not, you can get a copy of your latest prescription from the eye doctor who wrote it.  If your latest prescription did expire a few days ago, possibly the shop who made your lost glasses would be willing to make you a duplicate pair.  It's worth asking.
