tecnis and glasses.

I had tecnis implants in both eyes one month ago, one week apart. I am 50 and wore multifocal contacts with great success until cataracts interrupted. My vision is terrible after the implants. However, if I put my husbands prescription eye glasses on, I can see just fine. Does this mean the implants are the wrong correction? Can it be rectified?

Thank you so much! I see my doctor next Monday and am anxious to discuss this with him. I am very relieved!

That's a good sign. Yes, it can be rectified. 3 main reasons multifocal implants don't work well at times. 1. Dry eye or eye surface problem-treatable. 2.Posterior Capsular Opacity-treatable 3. Residual Ammetropia ("needing glasses")...it sounds like you have number 3. This can be treated temporarily with glasses or contacts and permanently with either IOL exchange or with LASIK/PRK procedure. Unless there's a lot of ammetropia, I would recommend "touchup" PRK.
