Blury Vision in Left Eye

I have been experiencing conjunctivitis/redness/light sensitive in the left eye and visited my local GP and was prescribed with some antibotic eye drops. These drops helped the reddness and irritation go away but in a couple of months later I experience the same problem. It has been a constant problem for about a year now and recently booked in for an eye examination at the optometrist and then was refered to an eye specialist. I was told I have had a lot of immflammation in the eye that has left dots/fluids in the lens which has caused lost of vision, blurriness and enlarged pupil in the left eye.
I was prescribed with eye drops (Prednefin Forte) and rescheduled for another appointment in 3 weeks. I'm not sure what is wrong with me, I have also had a chest x-ray and blood test and results show I am a perfectly healthy 23 year old female.

Would you be able to tell me what I could have? Is it caused by a disease/allergy or damaged due to an object thrown to the eye

Cataracts and uveitis are two totally different problems. Cataracts are observed until they are causing a moderate or large functional problem when they are then removed surgically. Uveitis is inflammation in the eye that may take drops, pills, injections to control and it can persist or reoccur in the same or fellow eye. Uveitis can be caused by other disease in the eye such as TB, Sarcoid, rheumatoid arthrits.

Both require you to be under the ongoing care of an eye MD opthalmologist.

I am a 55year old female. 18 months ago during my routine eye exam I noticed with my left eye I could not see clearly most letters had double shadows. I was told I have cataract in my eye. After 18 months most  letters have multiple shadows and it is very difficult to read near or far. I was told I have catact but not so bad to give me so much difficulty in reading. I am not diabetic. My retina is very healthy no hypertension. I would like your comments. Thanks

It's hard to find Eye MDs that specialize in iritis (uveitis). Most large cities have one or two. Most cases of iritis are ideopathic that means we don't know why the person gets them about 30% are due to underlying disese such as sarcoid, rheumatoid arthritis, HLA-B27 antigen, etc.

Perhaps your eyes are still dilated. Most iritis is treated by keeping the pupil dilated for a month or more.

If you are getting worse or would feel more confortable with a consult just ask your Eye MD for a second opinion.

Thank you JCH III MD, I called my Eye MD to confirm what is wrong with my eye and was told that they suspected it was "Iritis". I am currently undertaking treatment and using the prescribed eye drops (Prednefin Forte) but my vision is still blurry, could my vision be permanently damaged?

I did read about the causes of Iritis, yet however my chest x-ray and blood test show that I'm a perfectly healthy 23 year old female.
What other tests can be done to determine the cause of Iritis? Should I be getting a second opinion from someone else to confirm that I do have Iritis?

Thank you. -Katie-

I've got a similar thing going on in my left eye (and its going on in my right now too). You might want to take a glance at my question and the docs answer too and see if it applies. -Riyeon

I can only speculate but the problem this most resembles is "iritis". Please use the search feature, archives to review previous discussions of this problem.

Use Google and search these terms "iritis" and "uveitis".

Call and confirm from the Eye MD that you are being treated for iritis.
