wrinkle on eye ball

Hi I am writing you in regards to my dad, who had a fall and broke his collar bone, then 1 1/2 weeks after the fall he began having trouble with his eye on the same side as the break. He has gone to see a doc and an eye doctor, the doctor refered him to a specialist, but is taking for ever to get in !! The eye doc told him he had a wrinkle on his eye ball. When he first gets up in the morning it dosen't feel too bad, but within 1/2 hr it starts to bother him. He says it feels like there is something in it and he can't stop pulling the skin down and to the side to try to find releaf. His eye seems to be 3/4 quarters shut and seems to be getting worse. What can be done about this? Is there anyway of fixing this? Do you think the sooner he has if looked at by a specailist the better because we will drive him where we may get him in sooner.

Dear countrygirl_40,

I am unsure from your history of what you describe as a “wrinkle” on the eyeball. His discomfort warrants an examination from an eyeMD and if you need to travel, I think it is worth it to get him evaluated.

Thank you for your reply to my question, but we have had him to an eyeMD and they are telling us it is just his age. That there may not be anything they can do for him, that he may have to put up with it for the rest of his life. They may be able to do surgery, but his discomfort may not change at all.
