I used to have the same thing when I was younger. Its called a Classic Migraine attack. It was nothing to do with my eye sight. It is awful as people don't believe you as they can't see anything wrong with you. You should look on a Migraine website.
Mine never got better until I hit my sixties. Sorry to tell you that.
You cannot say this is classic migraine without excluding serious disease of the eye, brain, heart and blood vessels. You need to see an ophthalmologist for exam and to discuss and also to see your family MD for a complete physician
when i first had this weird kalidascope vision i was diagnosed with hypothyroid -.... it has been at least 6 yrs since ive had an episode. but last night it happened again and my blood work has been coming back normal on that end ... the "aurora" as some call it lasted about 15 min then i got the nauseating headache and feeling of numbness in my face . it has been 12 hours since the episode began the head ache has gone away but my head feels heavy and like an empty feeling and my eyes hurt just typing this is making me want to throw up i dont know which dr to contact or if i should go to the emergency room ..i have never felt like this the day after and episode .. -freaked out
It would be highly unusual for hypothyroidism to cause these symptoms (zig zags, etc). Migraine variant is the most common cause but as we said above as we get older it is more likely disease of the heart, brain, eye or blood-vessels. You should call your personal physician/family doctor.
