HCG levels questionable

Hi - On Oct 11, 2003 I transfered (3) 5-day blastocysts. On Monday, Oct 20 my HCG was 232, Oct 22 - 348, Oct 24 - 559, Oct26-993, and then on Oct 30 -2296.  On the 30th they did an u/s and saw 2 sacs with yolk sacs. My doctor is very cautious and conservative and does not like my HCG levels and although they arent doubling every 48 hrs, they are doubling about every 2.7 - 3 days according to another websites calculator.  I also read that under 1200 can take 2-3 days to double and after 1200-6000 can take 72-96 hours to double.  Is there any truth to this?  I know I need to wait for further fetal development showing up on my ultrasound this thurs (nov 6) at which point I will be considered 6w 1d.  The anxiety is killing me - ugh!  I would just like some kind of info as to what the viability of this pregnancy is with not stellar high numbers.
Thanks! Moppy

Hello, I have a question.  I have had 3 blood test drawn this week.  My doctor called me and said my HCG levels were inconsistant. He didn't give me much more inforn\mation than that.  Monday mt hcg levels were 800, Wednesday they were 1000, and friday they were 998, he didn't say I was going to miscarry but didn't say I wasn't going to,he wants me to go have blood drawn on Tuesday and an ultrasound on Wednesday.  I am very confused about what is going on and scared.  Does any one know if this could be normal or what?  I am not cramping or bleeding ir anything like that.  Any help would be good.

Thank you

Here is a chart with the suggestive rise of HCG to weeks:
Week from LMP Amount of hCG in mIU/ml
3: 5 - 50
4: 4 - 426
5: 19 - 7,340
6: 1,080 - 56,500
7 - 8: 7,650 - 229,000
9 - 12: 25,700 - 288,000
13 - 16: 13,300 - 254,000
17 - 24: 4,060 - 165,400
25 - 40: 3,640 - 117,000

So based on the HCG, a viable pregnancy would be around 5-6 weeks.  As you can see from this chart, the early HCG results and doubling rate are quite variable.

As you have said, the ultrasound would be the best choice of test and I would suggest waiting until these results.
