A doctor would need to answer that question for you.
I've had gerd in the past and know how incredibly painful it can be.
I've read some of the experts journals and Dr Steven Park, who writes about sleep-breathing disorders, mentioned something about LPRD. Laryngopharyngeal (throat and voice box) reflux. You may find it interesting.
The title of his journal was, Tired of Being Tired? A primer on Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome. The stuff about gerd/ LPRD comes ?half way down his journal.
I hope the medication is starting to help.
Went to my Internal Doctor Yesterday, since a week i have Stomach pain, on and off, it feels like it starts like a big bubble in my Stomach and Move's up to my Chest, when i breathe in it hurts and cramps, but no Acid flow, my Doc say's, it is Gastroesophageal Reflux Desease, but it does'nt seam right, that it is what i have, it feel's like something is Stuck in my Stomach, my Doc ordert lab Test and everything is Normal Range or Negativ, also got Medication, Famotidine 40 mg, 2 Times a Day, shell i take this Medicine? and when i quese in my Stomach with my Hand it hurts, can't bent over, i don't feel 100% since last week, i E-mail'd my Doc, for a Ultra Sound, My Doc in Germany would do that, so what is your recommendation??
I am gratified to hear you have a named diagnosis. As you are probably aware, Laryngopharyngeal Reflux is just a subset of the umbrella term, acid reflux. All it means is that the acid from your stomach is reaching further past your esophagus into the larynx (voice box) and pharynx (throat). As you can see, whatever name you give it, the treatment is the same for acid reflux and laryngopharyngeal reflux: a proton-pump inhibitor (Aciphex) and a histamine-2 blocker (Zantac).
Thank you,
I was diagnosed finally with LPR or Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR)
and put on aciphex and Zantac. I am hoping to find some relief as this has been a long road. Thank you for your help.
Without a review of a complete history, physical exam, lab results and medication list, I can't give you an exact diagnosis or treatment plan. In acid reflux disease, acid from your stomach gets into your esophagus, throat and mouth. Stomach acid can irritate all of these structures.
They said to sleep at a slant and avoid acidic foods, juices, fruit and alcohol. It has now gotten so bad since my post that they up'd my dose to 2 prilocex and 1 zantac in the am and repeat before bed. Does this explain why my lymph nodes under my tongue is swollen?
Did the doctors give you any other advice on how to manage the reflux?
