4th attempt success ivf

Have asked before but asking again, has anyone , preferably older ladies 38-44 years undergone ivf and gone on to have sucess on your 3rd or 4th attempt . In England like most places ivf is very expensive and we have just enough savings left for one last chance, our chances are very low, do we go for it or not. Both previous trys ended with me bleeding on day 11-13 of the 2ww thus the embryo not sticking. Would just love to hear any encouraging stories from women who have been through this, many thanks melissax

Melissa--I think you mentioned that in the UK they will usually only transfer one or at the most two embryos.
If possible, I would try to find someone who will transfer more than that. In the US, they will transfer up to 5 day-three embryos or 3 day-five blasts.  You're drs, it seems, are unnecessarily lowering your chances. The odds for multiples at 41 is very very low.
Another option, although pricey, is to have the embryos tested and only put back the genetically normal embryos.
I just had my third ivf with five embryos. Only one implanted and it was a chemical pregnancy. So, I'm getting ready to do my fourth, if my testing comes back ok. I will either do the genetic testing on the embryos or have him put back 5 day-three embryos (more if I can talk him into it, given my track record)...
Good luck!

My fingers crossed little emby will stick and first time success is on the cards for you, it is the worst bit, the 2ww and for me each time I'm expecting to bleed in it so I'm really trying  to remain positive to have this one last go. Hang in there , not long to go and I really hope you get your BFP, melissaxx

HI mel, thanks for your best wishes, yes i am on my first round of ivf, my 2ww is almost over, very frightened of the outcome and preparing myself for the worst, i have had so many let downs that its hard to feel positive even though i tell others to keep at it. ironic really!! i didnt realise it was that much in the uk but one good thing is the freebies. out of pocket here we have to pay $5,000 and abit which is halved in uk money. but have to come up with $8,000. im originally from Stourport on severn worcestershire area. really hoping your next attempt is THE ONE!!!! xxxxxxxx

Hi,

I'm 41 and just went through my third cycle, fourth if you count the first one that was cancelled. My last cycle was successful however I lost it at 17dpt. As hard as that was, it has given me hope to keep trying. A lot of women that I have spoken with locally have told me that they have had great success on their fourth try.

I am waiting for my results of the clomid challenge test and will plan from there.  There are women our age who get pregnant on third or fourth (or in the case of Celine Dion, sixth) try. I am on another message boars and there are women who do get normal embryos at 40 and 41...

Thank you for your advice, In England if you can get 3 embryo's they will put back all 3 but I unfortunetly only had few eggs, 3 fertilized then only 1 divided. If I could get 3 to fertilize I would  most certainly have all 3 put back, we now have to decide if to have this last attempt, I may only get 1 to fertilize again and lower our chances further. I havnt read much success stories on 3rd and 4th attemps of my age group. Realistcally I know my chances are poor but its always that hoping I produce that 1 good, strong egg that is tagging at my mind if to have this one last go, best wishes to you for your 4th, when will it be? melissax

Hello there, it is very expensive £5000 a go, ivf being £3700 and then all the scans, drugs etc, we've spent almost all our savings £15000 on 3 try's so I know my husband has a point at "where do we draw the line". If we had loads of money I would just carry on, I am quite strong mentally to take on all the drugs etc, but unfortnetly we don't have much left, just enough for 1 more go, then thats all our money gone. In England if you are under 39, you get 3 free goes!!! I am 41 so missed all this, just trying to read any successful 3rd or 4th time attempts. My best wishes to you, Are you in a cycle? I am from Surrey in England.lots love melissax

Hey stranger! Nice to see you.  I don't know about success on your 4th try.  I know alot of the women on here have went to donor eggs.... B74, Mariana101, Kricket212... they are all pregnant now with donor (all with twins too)... I don't know if you would consider that?  But, it sure is working on here : )

Thank you anyway, I thought I may get a better response on this site as I reckonize many names that have done ivf 1, 2, or 3 times. Aswell as the money and the low factor of success, its the stress of scans, injections, some pain and then the agonizing 2ww that we really have to think about. Its the sticking of embryos that fails us, and I know re's always say its an age thing. Best wishes to you anyway, melissax

Hi, sorry but I haven't done IVF yet so I don't know.

I was thinking if you might have better luck actually on the pregnancy 35+ forum. To me it appears there are women with success stores in regards to IVF.

I wish you good luck!
