Birth Control question...

So I am wondering....my doctor stuck me on BC pills Levora-28 day packet a low dose to regulate my periods.  Since I am heavier...does that mean that there is a possibility that I still could get pregnant?  We arent preventing it from happening....I am just curious of the chances. My doctor does know that I want more children.   Any input

Thank you! I always get my period but I might be a week late.  And I get irritated because then I think I am pregnant. So thats why he just put me on the pill.  I dont have PCOS. I do know that. I have no fertility problems at all actutally. He doesnt know my time frame and thats not in stone. I will do what he thinks is best. I would just like to plan 6 months from now.  I do know that he doesnt want me on it for more than a year.  I have lumps in my breast that get larger when I am on the pill. And he doesn't want that to continue. I was on the pill for 4 years before I had my first child. And then again after I had him for a little while because then I got pregnant on it. And then after my daughter I was on it again and then got off of it because with in those years lumps have formed/got larger whatever.   Well babydust to you!  And thank you for your help.

oh i just wanted to add...when i got pregnant with my son a few years ago ...my husband and i planned it and got pregnant on the second month...i had absolutely no fertility drugs at that time and my cycle was even normal back then...so my point is your body changes...i now have a blocked tube and doing injections and shots and IUI's....i never in a million years thought i would be struggling to get pregnant....best of luck to you.

well does your doctor know your time frame of 6 months to start trying to get pregnant? after i had my son a few years ago....i rarely got my period. but i had absolutley no intention of having another child for a couple of years. so then he put me on birth control...yes it regulated my period and i got it like clock work every 28 days....but when my husband and i decided to start trying my OBGYN took me off birth control several moths before we wanted to start. my obgyn recommended being off the pill for a few moths to try and get my cycle back...since it was never normal....but once i went off the pill i never got it back....so needles to say...i went to a fertility specialist...and not only do i not bleed on my own... i dont ovulate at all. i am heavy as well...he diagnosed me with PCOS. so everymoth i have to take provera to make me bleed....otherwise i wont on my own...i also am doing injectibles for not ovulating and did my first IUI this month. so in my opinion...and i am not a doctor...but if my time frame was 6 months i wouldnt waste my time with the birth control pill....because one you go off it....you still wont bleed every month...you will be back in the same boat...id recommend gooing for some testing...i dont know your health history but maybe you could have PCOS...not getting your cycle is a big sign...but again i am not a doc...but there is definately something going on...

No I dont mean heavy bleeding...I am talking about HEAVY in weight.  Sorry for the misunderstanding.   I have heard that the lower doses for heavier set women arent effective. I was just wondering if that is true.

Because you have a heavy monthly bleed does not mean that you can still get pregnant because of taking a low dose b/c pill.  A low dose is just low enough amounts of hormones that will prevent you from becoming pregnant.  The FDA would not approve the drug if there are people getting pregnant off of a low dose bc pill.  The low dose will hopefully reduce the amount of withdrawl bleeding and number of days of bleed.

well I have gotten pregnant on the pill before.  But I wasnt as heavy then.  I want to get pregnant. And he is only putting me on this for regulation only.  I was just wondering if anyone knew how effective it can/cannot be for someone on a low dose and being heavier. I am hoping to get pregnant soon.  Like within 6 months.  Thank you for your reply..I have been waiting forever it seems like. lol

well i am not a doctor but...i have known a couple of people that were on birth control and got pregnant...so there is always a chance...if you arent looking to get pregnant...i would recommend using other forms of birth contol in addition to the pill.
it sounds like your doctor is putting you on the pill to regulate your period only....not trying to get you pregnant...even if he knows you want future children...
i personally wouldnt take the chance of "not preventing it from happening"...because there is always that slight chance of getting pregnant on the pill and having a child with birth defects...so you need to make it full proof by using aadditional protection...
good luck!
