Hi jack,6954
Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition as a result of loss of melanin in the skin. The gene responsible for melanogenisis (autosomal dominant) becomes mutated. Now some studies say its spontaneous in occurs while others say its triggered by a viral infection. Unfortunately with this information does not same like anyone can guarantee that you will not pass it on to your child. Its likely 50-75% chance. Now i know with ivf they offer genetic testing. Perhaps they can look for that gene. But genetic testing is very costly and then if you find out are you willing to disgard your embryo? Many decisions.

The world is changing. There are famous people who are celebrated and bring awareness to vitiligo. Off hand i can think of Models Amy deanna, winnie harlow, singer michael jackson and many others. Wishing you best of luck in your decisions and hope this helps.
