Egg retrieval for round 2 of IVF

I just went for my egg retrieval yesterday and found out today that out of the 11 they were able to get, only 6 were mature, and of those 6, only 4 fertilized.  I am supposed to go on day 5 for my insemination, but I am worried there won't be anything to work with by that day.  In the past, I had 13 eggs retrieved, 11 fertilized, but by the insemination day, only 2 were any good.  Has anyone else ever had a lower number that was fertilized and still were able to do the transfer?  I'm feeling kind of pessimistic right now and could use the lift... thank-you...

Thank-you for your encouragement... there was only one to inseminate when I went in and it took two tries to get it to come out of the tube!  We'll see what becomes of it.  The last time, I had 2 embryos inseminated, managed to get one to the point of a heartbeat, but then died after 9 weeks.  I guess I will just have to wait and see with this one to see if it took.

I had ivf when I was with my ex husband. Only collected 6 eggs 4 fertilized and only 2 were near good enough to inseminate. Both survived did test after 2 weeks was positive. Got to 12 weeks and had a miscarriage. But I only lost the one by some mirical my daughter survied even tho she was 3 months early and had a very bad start to life she is still going strong and now she is 5 so don't give up

HI,
You should not be disheartened if one of the cycles gives a less number of embryos. The number can be better in the next month. Out of the 4 fertilized embryos, it is quite possible that all are good and your worries are unfounded. Hence let us hope for the best and continue with the treatment.
