Egg retrieval

Hi all, I went yesterday for my egg retrieval and they retrieved 12 eggs, waiting to hear today how many were fertilized.  Is 12 eggs a good amount?  my last they only retrieved 7 and ended up with 2 average at transfer time. This is my 2nd in-vitro and I also had 3 iui's one ending in pregnancy though miscarried at 8 wks.  I am very stressed and thought maybe chatting with others in a similar position would help.  Wishing all baby luck....

That is great! I hope this time everything will work out for you and me. I am so excited but also worried. But I am praying and trying to have good thoughts.  Did your stomach got bigger after the transfer because mine did, I can not fit my pens. Today is day 3 after the transfer.

My clinic has a little different classification but my all 7 embryos were graded b and they were 8-cells. The embryologist said that for the transfer she picked the best looking although they all were grade b (a- is perfect). I am just concern how my body will accept it I think this is the most important thing. Let's be positive (because this is what we want on our hpt) :) .

Hi, well I wish you luck.  Sounds good,  I am hoping I have some to freeze just not sure if I could go through this again.  I got my day 3 call today and I had 2 at 6 cell grade 2, 3 at 7 cell grade 2, 1 at 6 cell grade 3 and 1 at 7 cell grade 3.  My doctor said that is pretty good that perfect is 8 cell grade 1.  I go on Wednesday for the transfer,  what were the grade of the embryos they transfered?  Good luck and keep me posted...

Hi, few days ago 10/08 I had an egg collection - total of 13! That is a good number since at the other two (failed) ivf I had only 3-4 eggs.  From 13 eggs 12 were matured and then 11 fertilized. Yesterday (10/11)  I had a transfer of 3 good grade embryos, 4 will be frozen, 6 stopped developing and had to be discarded.  I am 38. I wish you the best of luck! Now I am home waiting, praying, hoping and thinking about my little ones all the time. I am 38, I got married at 22 and since then I was waiting patiently to become a parent. Everybody around me were getting pregnant 1,2 even 3 times but not me. I am hoping now is my time and I wish you the same.

Thanks so much for the uplift.  I just got the call out of the 12 11 matured and 7 fertilized.  I am so emotional over this I am hoping it is all the hormones that we have to pump into ourselves.  They will call me on Monday to update me and my transfer should be on Wednesday.  Thanks again and wish you all the best.

I agree, 12 is a great number! =)  Try to keep your body relaxed and stress-free (I know, easier said than done!), but it'll be better for you and your little one(s).  Best wishes for a great report today!

12 is a great number especially since you made it to transfer last time with 7!  Good luck with fertilization report.  I hope ivf works for you this time.
