Femara anyone??

Hello ladies!  We have moved away from clomid and trying Femara this month.  Today is CD 1 and I will start taking Femara CD 5 - 9.  We are planning an IUI with trigger shot if the follicles look good.

We've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years and I am pretty frustrated.  We went from my gyno to a big fertilty clinic here in Austin.  That wasn't working and they were pushing for injections (we cannot afford) so we opted for a second opinion.  The fertility clinic wouldn't give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes.  He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy.

Wish me luck!  Any others had success with this vs clomid?

i started on Femera per the RE this afternoon......FX to you too!!! Man that rx was $$ ($106) - ins didnt cover it like they did clomid from my GYN - none of the RE stuff is - OUCH - VERY $$ day for me!
had my RE appt this morning for CD3 BW and u/s ($650)
SHOCKING that my FSH is boarderline (11.1) (had 8 mo of clomid and several IUIs/trigger shots - and it was never an issue).  Fortunately my estridol and LH were normal.
we are doing IUI this mo and then if no BFP - will have consult for something more aggressive.I guess IVF?  I am so sad to think my DD will never have a sibling  i have been crying all day! I just hope this works!  I feel like a failure as a wife and mother. I hate my body for denying me the joy of carrying another baby in my womb!!! Makes me so angry!

I had 3 failed clomid iui's, chemical pregnancy after ivf, and failed FET. I just started going to a new doctor. He put me on femara, and my 2nd month I was pregnant, no IUI or anything! Sadly, I am having a miscarriage at about 9 weeks, but it did work!  I think it worked much better with my body! And i didn't feel as crappy as when I took the clomid.  Good luck!!! Hope it works for you. As soon as my miscarriage is over I will be starting on femara again.

Hello! yes as rjoshua said it doesn't thin the lining like clomid can.. also if your not doing IUI's it is "typically" better with cervical mucus than clomid.. doesnt' dry it out... some people respod better to clomid, some to femara, it really is different person to person of course!   We have a femara ladies post somewhere on here! we've had a good number of BFP's on there! we did get preg with femara +follistim but unfortuantely miscarried later on...we are on femara+follistim again..with IUI    as far as the injections go.. we went through IVPcare   and since at the time my insurance didn't pay for injections they gave us some sort of discount... i cant' remmeber if the follistim was $260 or $400 something... but its worth a call to check with that company---- i think they are here in frisco, texas actually.. great company very friendly and really do try to help you out as much as they can!   (hopefully you'll get your BFP though with just the femara!) GOOD LUCK! :)   keep us updated! let us knwo if you have any questions!

My RE suggested Femera (a.k.a Letrozole) as well.  I haven't started yet.  After 2 cycles of clomid my lining was thining (went from 7mm to 5mm) which made it very difficult for implantation to occure.  She said that Femera only stays in your system for a short period of time and doesn't thin your lining.

Hope this helps
