Fertility Monitor as Alternative?

Hey all.... we are getting back into TTC  (took 3months off...sort of lol) and with the economy and all I'm trying to think of ways to save bits of $ here and there. I'm going to go back on clomid (if BFN this month) and was thinking about purchasing a fertility monitor.  Do you think it's a good alternative to an RE monitoring you O'ing and timing BD? Anyone use these? What do you think of them?
I know its a lot of Q's, but I've obviously never used one, so any input is greatly appreciated!!

I won't be done with my Masters until May and I am thinking about switching RE's... We will see :)

Not bad here...things are finally starting to slow down. I'm DONE with classes!! and I took my boards so just waiting to see if I passed or not...We shall see :-)

Thanks for the tip!! I have mild PCOS but seem to O on my own...
I was actually just wondering about you the other day. How are things your way?

I like mine but sometimes it seems to be off - I think it is becasue I have PCOS and my hormones can surge and then never release an egg. But for other people without PCOS or problems like that I have heard great things! I didn't use it after my RE started monitoring me - the sticks can be expensive if I had a long cycle before I O'ed :)

And a hint for you - buy the boxes of sticks off of ebay. You can get them for about $35 instead of $50 in the stores. That's how I try to keep the cost down. :) Good luck and I am gald you are back now :)

Well, I have ordered the Clearblue Easy fertility Monitor - it sounds really great and its rated 5 stars :-) We shall see...
