Follistim FSH injection and IUI

Hi everybody,
It looks like Clomid 150 didn't help my ovaries mature, so RE is moving me to injectables. Can anyone share any stories about success or no success for FSH injections? I will take 50 units for 4 days ( the lowest dosage).....

I also have the same issue. My pituitary gland isn't producing enough of the hormones I need. I also haven't had a period in 3 years (since the birth of my first child). I have an appt with a RE tomorrow and am so nervous. I hope everything goes well for you! I am so sorry you are dealing with this but it does give me comfort that someone out there is going through a similar situation!

Have done 3 things of clomid and one of another pill I forgot the name. None worked. Going back on the 17th to talk about injectibles.  I am only 26 but because of past medical issues I have the egg reserve of  a 40+yr old woman.  I am nervous and am hoping this works.

Can anyone let me know what time in their cycle did their RE advise them to start on the FSH injections? I have not had luck with the clomid so will most likely have to start on FSH so for all you that did get results when did u start injecting.

   Two yrs TTC with no luck.unexplained infertility :(
   I was given 100Mg of clomid and produce 13 big mature follicles, had to wait 6 months since i had lot of cysts and high estrogen level.
After that, Since i ovulate on my own , DOC tried a natural cycle with HCG shot and IUI.That dint work.
  Now i was suggested to move from clomid to FSH , what are the success rate with FSH. plz advice.

Actually, I went to doc today and he says that IUI is not necessary for us this time because the sperm is already swimming happily!! WOHO, natural cycle for us this time!!
So I will be on 2ww on Thursday and will know the results on July 31....
GOD PLEASE!!!! I really want to be pregnant!!

I am sooo excited that it worked for you!!!!
Here is my story so far:
I took 6 days of 50 iu follistim and had one follicle on my right ovary. I triggered last night and BD, and today Im going for post cortal exam ( to see if the sperm is going anywhere), and if not, then I think  I will have IUI tomorrow and LET'S PRAY THAT I WILL HAVE BFP!!!!!!
Only one follicle though...

I will be 40 in 1 week and my issue is my age.  :)  Hormonal imbalances!  I took clomid for 3 months and it did not work.  I took 150iu follistim for 6 days, trigger shot next night, then iui 2 days in a row.  I am now 11 weeks pregnant after 1st month of injections.  :)
Good luck.  It honestly is not bad!  Just expensive!

I tried clomid for seven months before moving on to injectables--follistim this last cycle.  I got my BFP on July 3--first cycle of follistim.  I went for an u/s scan on cd2, but had a cyst so RE put me on birth control to "dry out" and shrink the cyst.  I went back seven days after the scan and the cyst was gone.  So RE started me on follistim.  I did injections for 12 days.  100-150 units depending on what my blood work showed and scan.  I did not overstimulate.  I produced 10 follicles--4 on left 6 on right.  We were able to do the IUI's because I had an ectopic in Jan.  and my right tube is not there now, so we really had only 4 follicles on the left to work with.  I did trigger shot followed with two IUI's back to back.  After almost 4 years ttc, I can't wait for our 6 week appointment scheduled for this Friday.  I am worried about another ectopic, but my betas seem good 52 at 13dpiui and 299 at 17dpiui.  Can't wait for Friday to see that everything is ok.  Injectibles worked for us the first time--stay positive!!

Just wanted to write to you we live close to each other and our the same age and are having the same problems. Nice to know that someone is going through the same thing. My friends just don't understand and are all getting preg. Good luck on the injections! I just finished my round and had an IUI last week so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi, I am in a similiar situation as you. I have PCOS. I was on clomid for about 4 cycles but had no response to this med.I am now moving into the world of injectables. I am starting follistim injections tonight at 50 units. I saw my doc today they did a blood draw and ultrasound, they saw many small follies. I guess that is why they are starting me at a very low dose. Hope everything works out for us :).

It will be my first cycle with injectables...last time I had Clomid 150 and IUI and I got preggo but then it was a m/c......
now Clomid didn't work anymore, so I will take Follistim for 4 days only 50 units and then come for u/c to see the mature follicles...I hope my body will only produce 2-3 and I will get pregnant!!! GOD HELP ME!

No, I think they only will give me 50 units Fol. for 4 days and then Ovedril shot and prometrium if my follicles mature.... also im taking metformin..but i don't think it works for my PCOS...I still have many small follicles..
How many unsuccessful IUIs did you have?

I have mild pcos and one ovary.. severe endo, male factor (morph is only 2%) AND LUFS (where only 1 in 3 follies i have actually rupture!) so we were on our last and 3rd IUI with femara , but the last cycle upped the femara to 5mg once a day and then added low dose follistim (i'm 27 and with the pcos didnt' want to overstimulate) my RE is usually pretty strict with how many follies and IUI to not produce too many multiples, but with me he was fine with whatever i was fine with since my follies dont' rupture
   well my one ovary produced 3 mature follies (5 others)  and  2of them released (i was on 100iu of follistim one night then 75 the next two and one last one of 50) and we got preg! we were SHOCKED!!!! we have so many issues we've been told only IVF would work!  GOOD LUCK! it does work for A LOT of people! heathjo i believe also got preg with injectables and IUI she is preg with twins, maybe around 20 weeks! your in my prayers!

I am 32 and yes this was my first IVF try.I know it is very frustrating when you overstimulate on such a low dose .Just be patient.I almost gave up as I was emotionally exhausted from the IUIs.I hope the low dose works for you.Do they have you on lupron aswell to help repress? Please keep me updated on your progress and feel free to PM me with any questions.

Wow, CONGRATS!! How old are you ?
I have PCOS and my doc says that he just give me 50 units and see how many follicles I will produce..right now I have many follicles on each side but none of them mature..
so you got preggo first IVF cycle?
I really hope that my follicles will not be too many when I do 50 units but 2-3 to do IUI....

I dont have PCOS my issue was wiht my pituitary not producing any hormones, so I had no menstrual cycle. The doctor basically said my ovaries get a whiff of FSH and go crazy. I had atleast 20 follicles on each side and 10-12 above 14 on each cycle.They all seemed to keep growing and none singled themselves out. I had Moderate OHSS on one of the cycles so they were afraid of letting my Estrogen get too high. This is why I did IVF. I am almost 22 weeks pregnant now. Good luck to you.

Do u have PCOS?
So the only reason why u went under IVF is becaouse of over stimulation>? But for IVF, tat's ok, to have many follicles, right?
Have you done IVF alreadY?

OMG...you were on 32 and it was still over stimulated??? And they cancelled 5 times because of that over stimulation? How many follicles hav eyou produced?

I was on 32 follistim and still over stimulated so they cancelled my IUIs. I had to go IVF route after 5 cancelled cycles.

OMG, 3 times m/c??????HOw is that possible? WHy? How old are you? Iheard that it is unlikely to get m/c the second time after your first time...
I had 1 m/c and I m HOPING not to have it again!!
That is soo upseting.......

Im sorry...:( That always sux...you wait and you hope and then nothing....how many follicles did you produce? How many units for dosage?
