Fresh Vs. Frozen transfer.

So I kinda get the idea of how a fresh cycle is done, but how do they do a frozen cycle?  All the embryo's are already to go so when would you start meds & such fro a frozen cycle?  Do you test for ovulation and go in when you get a positive? I am a little confused.  I am hoping I only have to do a fresh cycle & I get my BFP tyhat way,but I am curious of how a frozen cycle works.

Thanks ladies!

At least that is what I experienced with my FET. I don't know if there are different protocols. I have PCOS so the FET was good for me because I didnt have to worry about having ovarian cysts get in the way of ttc. I usually have ovarian cysts and have to be put on bcp  acupuncture and herbs to get rid of them so that I can have any type of stim cycles.
Hope what I'm trying to say make sense. :) good luck!

No you do not have to check ovulation. The doctor did a scan to make sure my lining was thick (8) and did labs ( estrogen and progesterone) no ovulation involved because you will use your embryos not your egg. Basically your doc needs to sync your body with your embryo if that makes sense to you.

Thanks so much for the reply! So do they get you to come in when you get a positive ovulation test, or do they give you something to make you ovulate?

I really hope this next cycle works for you I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I just had my first FET. I took estrogen thru ought my cycle and a four days before the transfer my dr had me start progesterone. I also was started on baby aspirin, prednisone and an antibiotic. The day of the transfer I was given Valium and then during the 2ww I had to continue estrogen, progesterone and baby aspirin till I took my beta. Unfortunately none of my three embryos took and this evening I started another cycle. I hope this helps you a little. If you have any other questions I would be happy to help. Good luck!

First, most ivf cycles do not have frozen embryos (our embryologist said only 30% of cycles have any).  Protocols vary and with many physicians you don't have to take any meds.  They will monitor you since they have to thaw your embryos at the right time.  I hope you will be lucky to have a few frozen embryos; they freeze the best once.
