Has anyone taken Metformin?

Hi girls. I just wanted to know if there is any out there who has taken metformin and for how long and how much? Did everything turn out OK? My RE put on metformin for this cycle, i'm almost 8 weeks pregnant but now that i'm going to a regular GYN she is gonna make it stop.My RE is out for the month and i'm not sure if i'm gonna take it for the first trimester or the whole pregnancy. I'm going to ask him when he comes back and i so don't like the gyn that is following me now. But i don't have insurance to go to a private doctor and i already paid a lot of money to my RE for my cycles. Any information i would appriciated

I started taking Metformin befor got pregnant because i have pcos, and i'm still taking it. I'm almost 8 weeks pregnant, but my regular GYN wants me to stop it. My RE released me cause he doesn't do pregnancy and i so don't like the GYN that i have now. She said that metformin is not doing anything to me and they don't give it during pregnancy. This is the thing with the doctors. What tells you one doesn't tell you the other one.

I took Metformin (1000mg/day) throughout my pregnancy.  My doctor was adamant that I did not stop it during my pregnancy.

While TTC I took metformin 1500mg each day until I was 12 weeks pregnant.  I am 24 weeks now and everything is fine.  I find it strange your doc would start you on it at this point (unless maybe he is thinking you have diabetes??).  basically if he thinks your embryo is fine then you shouldn't need metformin at this point and if he thinks the embryo is failing I seriously doubt metformin could actually "save" it.  Most people go on metformin for treatment of pcos prior to being pregnant...it can help regulate your cycles, help you conceive and decrease miscarriage risk.  What metformin actually does is limit the absorption of glucose from your intestine, decrease synthesis of glucose from your liver and helps increase insulin sensitivity.  What these all do is reduce your blood sugar level.  Having high blood sugar is very hard on your organs and that is why it is important for diabetics to constantly monitor their blood sugar.  pcos is kind of like pre-pre-diabetes and therefore metformin can help treat that condition.

I take  metformin 750 mg a day and prednisone 5 mg a day and prometrium 200mg a day.  Metformin takes care of your sugar so that your body doesn't and it has more energy (for lack of a better word)  To care for your baby.
