Hi; has anyone had success with a "natural" sort of fertil. doctor? Or had preimplantation genetic screening? Had eggs frozen?

Hi; I'm older than anybody here (51); I got pregnant naturally and miscarried 2x @ age 46, also @ age 48; but it's been 3 yrs and nothing; I know the egg quality issue is there, blah, blah, blah, but my fsh is 11.05, AMH 1, Inhibin B not bad (don't remember the level) - and I'm just bound and determined to use my own eggs!

I just consulted w/a worldwide expert ivf guy today; yet, when I actually read the protocol it just seemed like so many drugs! For one thing, he said I'd have to start on birth control immediately before egg retrieval

Right away, that just feels wrong. When I read an article he wrote, he said that birth control pills counteract the effect of Lupon (so that one doesn't get cysts on ovaries) and right away I began to feel queasy. This sensation only got worse when I continued to read about the drugs and the protocol.

I just talked w/another guy yesterday who said that IVF may not even be necessary; that IUI might work. On the other hand, w/o IVF, one cannot have the embryos analyzed w/preimplanation genetic screening.

Has any1 had preimplanation genetic screening done?
Or gotten pregnant w/an IUI, not IVF?
Or had eggs frozen?

Thanks!

Does every1 have to go on birth contol before ivf? Seems counterproductive. Also, somehow I get the idea that IUI works better for older women.

I was told that because of my "advanced maternal age" (39) I should really just do the IVF. (My husband also had a congenital issue, so that was also a factor). From reading so many posts like Durban81's, I'm glad I went straight to IVF, frankly. I also went on BCPs for about three weeks prior to my retrieval for the same reasons she listed. I know it sounds oddly counterproductive, but the way it was explained to me, when you do IVF, the RE needs to re-adjust and manipulate your whole reproductive system so the timing is exact. BCPs assist with this process. Good luck!

Thanks, Durban! Wow, I don't know what the issue is in your case, but at least you're young enough to have lots of time to work on it. There is one autoimmune blood test I still need to get done, I believe. Then . . one never knows. Good luck!

Hi, I had to go on birth control for one month before I started the meds for iui.I'm 30 years old and have had four iui's which didn't work. I was told the birth control helps with cysts and also helps to balance estrogen. Wish I had the answer for u but thought I would let u know my experience. 3 years of trying and stiLl not pregnant!
