Hi, I am a 23 yr old girl who just finished an egg donation cycle. The only side effects I had experienced was a little post retrieval pain, which was expected since they got 53 eggs. Last week everything was supposed to go back to normal because I started my period. I had a few migraines during it, but they pretty much stopped when my period stopped. Comparitively I had very minimal side effects during the hormone therapy. However, just this week I started having many severe hot flashes. I've read that this is related to Lupron, but I stopped the Lupron injections almost 2 weeks ago, the day I started my period. I put in my Nuvaring this Sunday, which correlates to the beginning of the hot flashes. Nuvaring has been my birth control of choice since I was a teenager and I have never had a single complaint, actually love the ring. Obviously, the hot flashes are related to the semi-recent hormone therapy, but my question is can I control the hot-flashes? And do I have any more unexpected side effects in my future? I thought I really did my research before this commitment, but obviously I missed something. I finished the donation so I don't have to worry about drug interactions if there's something I can take for these hot flashes. Thanks for any advice!
Just got my shot almost a week ago and already getting hot flashes. Blah thought i'd have a couple more days. She thinks I have endo were tryin the shot b4 the lap to avoid it cuz I'm younger 22. I've ben in pain for a freakin year and somthing is finaly getting done. Not another test thank god. My dr said to try soy produts because the products women would usualy take would defeat the purpose of the shot. It's worth a try. I'm going to get soy milk today. Yuck lol. Well hope this helps you. Good luck!

I'm really sorry to hear that you had to have a hysteroctomy. I have not really had too hard a time expect of course the normal, expected things with the Lupron, like the hot flshes and mega mood swings! What is the next step for you?
I started lupron depot in june of 07, my experience with the shot has not been all that great soon after I started the shot I was in the worst pain I have ever felt the continued even though my doctor said the pain should subside it never did it kept on getting worst. My doctor told me to come in so he could do a vaginal ultrasound he found a golf ball size cyst with blood in it , He then decided that the best thing to do was a hysteroctomy. For everyone that has endo you are in my prayers cause I know how hard it can be, I have had problems for the past five years and I hope it is finally over after my surgery. But some people that i have spoke to has aid that the lupron depot shot worked for them and that they havent had any more problems. So I hope it will work for you cause nobody she have to live with the daily pain of endo
Girl, I am on Lupron for 2 months, well, i already finished my treatment, my last shot was 4 1/2 weeks ago) and have the most horrible hot flashes!!!! and I am so damn sentimental, wimpy, whiney, cry baby, and cranky!!!!! lol.....but that is not all.....I am tired all the darn time, and (sorry TMI) I have not seen CM in forever!!! I am soooooo dry I cannot even think having sex without my friend KY!!!! lol
Anywho, my doctor prescribed me something I never took......why don't you try and ask yours if there's a prescription to counter act just the symptoms??
My treatment on lupron wasn't for endo, (altho at the laparoscopy they discovered some....and lasered it off) it was for a tumor, that actually got dissolved with it! so, eventho is nasty, it works wonders!!!! =))
I was wondering how long does Lupron takes to get completelly out of your system tho.......??
Mine was a monthly 7.5mg depot shot......, and yes, my insurance didn't cover it!!! so, there it goes 1,400 bucks on the darn thing!!!! =((
Im on it because i am doing IVF, they first put you on lupron to suppress everything, then give you stimulants to make eggs grow, then they retrieve the eggs. The lupron is so you don't ovulate on your own. And i guess i am on what they call the "long protocol", I am on lupron for a week before i start the stimulation. I have a friend that was on it for many months for endo like you, she is now pregnant with her second baby. :) So i hope it helps you.
Wow, I didn't know that lupron was used for IVF, too. Do you realize how expensive that drug is? The pharmacist told me that the one I am taking (3 months worth in one dose) was $2000 without ins!!!
Thanks for sharing that your friend had luck after the long treatment with it for endo (on it for 6 months also??). I can use all the hope I can get!
Good luck to you and the IVF!! How exciting!
Are you on Lupron for Endo?? Why only for 2 weeks...just curious.
Hey I am also on lupron, just started friday. I haven't been able to sleep since, due to sweating all night long! I have been sleeping with the windows open and two fans, but still so hot!! Thankfully i only have to be on it for 2 or so more weeks. Sorry i don't know really how to stop them, if you figure something out please share the info. :) Good luck.
