I AM SO MISSERABLE!!!

Did anyone else who went through IVF feel as misserable as I do? I have constent head aches, stomach aches, really bad nuasea, breast hurt, and my ovaries hurt all the time, And right now are the size of an orange, and are going to be the size of a grapefruit in the next few days. So its only going to get worse. I have read alot of peoples posts about IVF but no one has mentioned any of these side affects and how misserable it can be. :( I know it will be worth it in the end but dang this *****. If you guys can let me know what you guys went through that would make me feel better lol.. thanks

I, too, had lots of headaches, was very uncomfortable and couldn't wear anything restrictive around my stomach or waste. I just rested as much as possible and kept reminding myself what it was for. Now I'm 30 weeks pregnant! Hang in there. You can do it!

Hyperstimulation is when the pockets wwhere they take the eggs from fill with fluid . ... It eventually gets reabsorbed by the body but while it is happening it is very painful but if you drink lots of fluids it will make things better.

Hi Jroxy.

I am one day post IVF transfer. I too feel pressure, slight pain, and gassy. I had a successful IVF almost 2 years ago and don't recall feeling this much pressure. I don't think I overstimulated as I only had 7 follicles however I heard that they do fill with fluid post retrieval which could explain the pressure.

so what does it mean to overstimulate after egg retrievel? Is your body still producing eggs?

I was extremely miserable after retrieval. They retrieved 30 eggs from me and I hyperstimulated afterwards. I could barely bend over for around a week or so, but I promise it does get better. Just drink plenty of fluids (my doctors told me to drink a lot of gatorade) and don't over do it.

As far as the progesterone goes, it comes in many different ways. I had to do injections for a few weeks, then was transferred to the vaginal inserts. I guess it depends on what your doctor says.

Yeah you won't know if you hyperstimulate until after the retrieval just make sure you drink lots of water after the retrieval .. I responded to well to the meds to and got lots of eggs but I wasn't as miserable as you are .. I hope this gets better for you.

i was very uncomfortable and bloated-to the point i had to stop wearing pants with anything other than elastic waists several days before my retrieval.  i went from sweats to maternity at 6 weeks pregnant.
i had pretty bad constipation from the progesterone as well....
but it is most definitely all worth it in the end when it works :)

What is OHSS? I hope it gets better soon but they said mu ovaries are just going to get bigger. If the nuasea would just go away I would be able to handle this so much easier.

Hi, sorry to hear that you're having a ruff time. This is my second IVF cycle and the most I experienced was a slight headache r/t lupron and I became semi bloated during stimming. The worst symptoms I've experienced were  post ER. The pelvic cramping and abd bloating are very uncomfortable. But the WORST are the P4 inj ! They are literally a pain in the ********!

Have you spoken to your RE ? You might need an adjustment w/ your meds. Hope you feel better.

I was in a lot of pain also when I went through a fresh cycle of IVF .. It hurt worse for me when I had the eggs retrieved .. I had OHSS and was in a lot of pain the week after they harvested the eggs.  I hope that the pain starts to subside .. I remember that I felt very bloated when the eggs were growing. YOu must have a lot of eggs growing .. Drink a lot of water .. thats what helped with the OHSS and I would call the clinic if you still feel this bad .. I don't think it should be that miserable.
