I think my brain surgery helped my ovaries! I swear!

Hey girls - been a little while. I have been checking in and posted a few times but other than that I have been just taking a break from medhelp and TTC. If any of you remember I ended up having brain surgery (long story - had chiari malformation of the back of my brain, just google it). Anyway, with the chiari malformation my back part of my brain was sitting too low and causing my head to hurt, my fluid in my back and skull to accumalate and numbness in my hands.

Anyway, had the surgery on the 21st of Nov and O'ed a few days later. Got a period 15 days later and never thought I would get another one for a while since my PCOS causes me to go a while between periods, usually ast least 2 months. Well, I will be damned if I didn't just O (I think) on CD 14 or 15 this month!!! 2 months of normal periods! My heart can't take it! So, now I think the surgery may have reset (MAYBE) my body! If I get a period in 12-13 more days I will fall over dead! I am so excited!! Just wanted to let you all know!

Good luck to everyone and major hugs and sticky dust to all our BFP's!!

Jen

I can't believe I finally have read about someone having chiari surgery!!  I had decompression surgery 22 1/2 years ago for Chiari Type 2 which practically cured me but left me w/a instable cervical spine so then I had to have a fusion from top of occiptal bone to C-5 which was very unfortunate but probably saved my life.

i really, really believe that your surgery probably did help w/your ovaries - it helps w/so many of our symptoms.  I look forward to hearing how your cycles go from this point - good luck!!!!

Hey jen, How exciting a 2 normal cycles!!!! Amazing. Well im glad that (maybe) you are ganna be normal:) Someone mentioned Fertilaid, I took FertiliTea Its the same thing only in Tea form. Good too. Turns out i have a mild form of PCOS found that out when i got a copy of my records to take to the IVF doc, Crazy dont know why my doc didnt tell me about it but it explains alot. But anyways the tea helped regulate ovulation for me and i had REGULAR 28 day cycles. I only stopped cause you have to take it every day and i would always forget:( Good to hear from you talk to you soon:)
Hugs

Maybe the fluid build-up was putting pressure on your pituitary gland?  I'm not sure exactly where everything you had going on was located, but ya never know.  I'm SUPER happy for you and glad to hear that it sounds like you recovered from the surgery OK.  Let's hope this regular periods/O'ing keeps up!  Good luck!

I am ovulating on CD 14 now (two months in a row!)  I had been O'ing on CD 15-20.  My luteal phase is longer also by two days.  I have seen AF twice with ZERO pms symptoms.  If I wasn't bleeding I'd never know I had AF!  :)  Also my bb pain has shifted from o time back to soreness right before AF (which is how it used to be when I got preg. with my daughter).  Lots of little things that I HOPE amount to a BFP soon!  This is our first month back TTC after a break (avoiding Aug/Sept baby with teaching and all...)  I had read that Fertilaid causes increased energy and sex drive...I haven't noticed THOSE changes, but everything else seems really positive.  I figured it couldn't hurt to try it.  :)

Good luck to ya!  :)

What great news!  I hope you're right and things are looking up for you on your TTC journey!  What a great feeling to be back to 'normal!"  I started fertilaid a little while back and have also noticed some positive changes to my horomones and body.  I know how exciting it is!  Hope we'll both get our BFPs soon!  SSBD!!!!!!!!!!

That is great news!  It's funny how during this mission of ttc, sometimes seeing a period is the best news we could get, lol.  it just goes to show how we all are different and are expperiencing the ttc issues in various ways.  Glad all went ok with your surgery and here's to many more 'normal' cycles to come and that big BFP!!!
