IUI and ovidrel shot and pregnancy test

i had my IUI on fri november 23rd...and i am supposed to go back a week from then (this fri) for a shot of ovidrel b/w and u/s and then wait a week to see if pregnant. ok, so,  i am pretty sure i have read on the message boards to have to wait 2 weeks from IUI to get your results. one reason being that the ovidrel shot is still in your system and could give you a false positive...so if that is true i was curious today and took a test thinking i would get a false positive only due to the ovidrel shot...but instead i got a big negative....shouldnt it still be in my system? sorry if this is a stupid question but i am new to all this...

Hi all. First time on this site. In South African. Had Ovidril shot last week Sunday morning at 8am. IUI on Monday and Tuesday. Did digital pregnancy test yesterday (Monday, 9th day post Ovidril). Came back positive saying 1-2 weeks pregnant. What do you think?

I am new to this site but just want to say thank to all of you, who do tske the time to share their experiences as I know how hard this pregnancy thing is for all of us...but girls hang in their we well all make it.

My question: I was put on Overidrel and Protest...5 days later I did the Clearblue Preg. Test..it came out Positive but when I called my nurse at the fertilaty clinic, she said it's due to the overdrel..is this true...please share with me your comments..as I am now starting to loose hope.

Dr had me doing femera. Had one follicle show up on left ovary a week late(had ultrasound on Monday and surprise Wednesday!) And did ovidrel shot Friday. I had my first IUI on Feb 12 & 13 2ww ends Sunday. Have taken 3 HPT’s…first one was that Monday (not gonna lie, really wanted to see what a positive looked like, even if it was false...and I know that was too early to get realistic results)…it was negative The next was 1st day of missed period. Negative. And today, “14th day” after shot, 12/ 13th days after IUI’s. Negative. I thought the HCG shot was supposed to give false positives????…. saw on one site where someone said they had false negatives and a positive blood tests.

Idk what to think of this. Look things up on google…a lot of people with same questions, but never come back to answer it based on their experience after their 2ww. Is that a bad thing? Are they sad due to a BFN and don't want to talk about it or happy due to a BFP and don't feel the need to come back?

I have some weird symptoms that could be period (but I don’t mestruate on my own) or could be pregnancy. Itchy breasts…sore breasts…cold all the time (usually hot flashing)…a little nauseus…crampy…
Gave up on thoughts of being preggy with yesterdays test, but today breasts seem different. Don't feel/look like they normally do. Is that a ray of hope or just my mind thinking it sees things.
Anyone have any thoughts? I’m going to retest Monday and Friday

i did this post a long time ago tanya 55...and i did end getting pregnant...gave birth in july 08...so i guess everything the RE did worked...best of luck to you....

Hi. I lost my baby 4 months ago at 22weeks. My Dr gave me Femara 2.5mg daily and got Ovidrel on the 18th. I went for IUI the 20th. I only had one foli. Dr said i can take test in 14days. I cant wait that long... Who had positive preg with this?

ok...so i called my RE office today and told them my history.... i took my ovidrel shot this past wednesday...and had IUI on friday.... so i was curious to see if i would get a false positive with the ovidrel in my system...but i didnt... so the office left me a message saying that you have to wait at least a week before testing... a negative result means nothing at this point and its too early to tell...
so fri will be exactly 1 week from my IUI... and they are doing b/w and u/s...so i guess we shall find out then... so then what it the 2ww (2 week wait for then)? why did they say only a week?

my RE nurse clarified to me today that either the RE could give progesterone to take daily in the event i was pregnant ...or just administer one shot of ovidrel... both will do the same...i guess its just a matter of preference.

I have heard of others getting additional hcg shot, just never had to do it myself.  I was put on progesterone, but only after I was pg (around 6wks) and the progesterone level started dropping.  

Are you going to test again before your next shot?? Good luck.. I hope you get your bfp!!

my re said the reason for a 2nd ovidrel shot a week later...is in case i am pregnant it will keep my hormone levels up....but it seems no one else does this....hmmm...... well do most of you after your IUI continue to take some form of progesterone???

If you had IUI on the 23rd that means you had shot on the 21st, right?? So today is 7dptrigger shot.  I have tested as early as 8 days and gotten bfn.  And that is using FRER (first response early results) which are very sensitive.  I usually tested really early to see if I would get a negative, that way when I would test later, I would know if it was positive or false positive.  But I never had to go in to get a second shot.

I agree, you should contact your RE and see what they say. Not everyone's system is the same as ashort mentioned. Lots of luck to you.

I think you should've gotten a false positive but that's just me.  I know everybodys bodies are different...maybe you have a really fast metabolism....try not to worry...you could always call your RE and see what they say....

Wow, that is quick for it to be out of your system that fast.  I took the ovidrel shot on the 22nd but I haven't tested yet.  Last month it was out of my system 12DPO...I didn't test until then.
