IVF Post Transfer Instructions

Hi.  i have browsed this forum for support during my ivf but this is my first question.  Just finished my first ivf  (retrieval on 8/16 and transfer on 8/21).  Just did my blood test today and got a +++.  HCG was at 326 which my Dr said she likes to see it at 50+ and my progesterone was 94.8 and again they said they like to see it at 30+.  So far so good!  So during this last 2 weeks we had the normal instructions...no lifting, no caffeine, no baths, no sex, etc..  Sooooooo my question is why is my Dr telling me to continue w/ no sex for 3 more weeks (until u/s)?  I understand the other stuff but not this since during a normal pregnancy most couples don't stop.  My husband doesn't believe me...he thinks i'm joking, but those really were the instructions..lol.  Oh, the really good news is No More Progesterone Shots...YEAH!  Also, not another blood test for one week.  Any help or advice is appreciated.  Good luck to everyone out there.

Thanks for the help!  It makes sense just had to ask.  I really thought the 2ww was bad but now i'm so anxious to go in for another blood test on thursday i can hardly stand it.  I keep hoping they both decided it was nice and comfy in there and maybe it's twins but i will be happy w/ just one too.  I feel truly lucky just to be pregnant especially after reading all the sad stories of people trying for years.

Tima-You must be SO excited!  How many did they transfer and when did you find out it was twins?  Yeah i read someone complaining about the lupron shots and thought surely they haven't made it to the progesterone yet!  LOL.  It was awful...i felt like a pin cushion and my butt looked like a paintball course!  :)

Spec-How far along are you?

congrats!!!  Your numbers sound really good and high!!  I believe one of the reasons for the no sex is because your ovaries are still really large from all the meds.  They told me that I could have sex after I was about 7 or 8 weeks along, but that I probably wouldn't feel like it, which I didn't.  I was really swollen from the meds and that was the last thing I wanted to do, besides when they did the vaginal Ultrasounds when I was about 7 or 8 wks, it was sort of uncomfortable because of my ovaries.  Good luck to you and congrats on the "no more progesterone injections".   That's a wonderful milestone!!

Congratulations on BFP. That is wonderful. My hcg was 428 after 9 days of transfer (blastocyst) and I am11wk pg right now with twins. Do you think more than 1 implanted for you or single? The reason for no sex is so that your cervix remains tight and so that there is minimum disturbance for embryoes. you want to give them the maximun time for proper implantation. Good for you no more progesterone shots. I had to take them for 2 months which is normal for FET. My butt was so sore. Congrats again.
