I'm so sorry to hear you have to endure this emotional and physical trauma. You'll be in my thoughts this week. For me the physical part wasn't too much worse than a really bad period. (i'm hoping this will be the case for you also) Once again I'm so sorry.
Thank you girls so much!!!!! yall always have such great advice! I dont' know what i'd do without anyone like yall to talk to !!!! heather: that makes me feel better knowing that you spotted a few days before it actually happened... since i'm still just spotting... i think i will do what you said.. if i'm at work when i start having bad cramps go ahead and leave at that time! gosh i'm such a planner! this whole ttc and miscarriage thing is just sooo testing of my patience haha! thank you!
Hi bny!
As you know, I've also had two miscarriages, and like some of the above posters, one required a D&C and the other was a natural miscarriage at home. I know it varies from person to person, but in my case, I got a little bit of a warning before my natural miscarriage. I had some very minor spotting for a couple of days, and the day I miscarried, I started to get cramps. I had cramps on and off all day, and didn't pass the tissue until close to midnight that day. I then woke up in the middle of the night and passed another piece of tissue. After that, the cramps went away and I was basically just having what seemed like a normal period (although it lasted longer...I think it was 9 days).
So once the cramps started, it was basically all over in less than 24 hours. And physically, I was fine the next day.
I think my advice for you would be to call in sick (or leave work) once you start feeling any significant cramps. In my experience, at least, that's when the miscarriage was about to start.
Take care of yourself, bny!
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through -- I had 2 m/c one at 7 weeks and that I could not work -- the cramps and bleeding was severe. The second one I was 4 weeks and that was not that bad at all -- it was just like a period a little heavier and little more cramps ( I went to work with that one)
thank you all very much for your responses, and i'm SO sorry to hear that yall have been through miscarriages as well!!! i never knew it would be quite this hard! well i feel like my bleeding has slowed.. but defintely still cramping, so i guess i'll just see how it goes and make the decision about what to do when it happens... not knowing is just miserable i agree! THANK YOU very very much!
i'm so sorry for your loss. i've just gone through natural m/c number two, and am anguished....my heart goes out to you.
i was 10 weeks along, but the fetus measured 8.5 weeks. mine began one week after being diagnosed, during which i went from spotting to light bleeding. I had all night cramping (not painful just there) on a Sunday, went to work on Monday, only to come straight home due to very heavy bleeding, fluid loss, and passing of large clots. I too am on my feet and need to be mentally engaged with other people in my job and could not be due to frequent changing of pads. That evening I went through agonizing pain (described by my midwife as labor who recommended tylenol for pain which was helpful) for about 5 hours during which time I passed the last of the very large tissue clots. I did not go to work the next day for exhaustion and fear it was not over. i am down to just spotting now, after seven more days.
my first miscarriage was much earlier on in my pregnancy (5 weeks) and felt more like a heavy period. working then was not a problem at all.
i hope the latter is your experience, and would recommend going in for the d/c if you are concerned about moving forward...the waiting can be killer and unhealthy for your body.
Sorry about your loss. I have had 2 miscarriages. The first I had a D & C but they didn't do it properly so eventually had to wait for the natural MC. The 2nd I was booked in for D&C coz I had a missed miscarriage and doc said it could take ages for it to happen naturally but it did happen that nite at home. Had cramping every few minutes from about 11:00pm till about 7:00am then started bleeding. Didn;t pass the tissue but for a couple of days, then bled for 7 days, then totally stopped.
It does sound like you might be starting the miscarriage, but like everyone says, our bodies are all totally different.
Once again sorry and hope it's not too painful for you.
Take care
i am so sorry for your loss.
i have had 2 MC's and had d and c's both times since my body did not naturally do what it was suppsoed to. i was the same as arpee, had them on fridays and back to work by Monday. it was painless and i was knocked out completely. just some minor cramping aftrewards.
but from what you have described, it sounds like your MC could be starting. if you do not start to actually pass the tissues soon, i would go back to the doctor's and talk about otehr options.
Had 2 miscarriages - 1 naturally and another with D&C after waiting for about 2 weeks to miscarry.
The D&C is not painful since your under pain killers but I still felt my knees tremble during the procedure. Was prescribed some antiobitics and painkillers but never got to use the latter.
I had the D&C on a Friday and was back to work on Monday, although my work did not have a lot of standing. No cramps and pains for me. Bleeding is just like normal AF.
