Second IUI

Has anyone had success on second IUI who is over 35?

I am 39 and will have my second IUI next week.  I was on a low dose of gonal f and then did the hcg trigger.  My gonal f will be increased this cycle to 112.5 of gonal and then do the trigger.  I only had one mature folly last time and they want to stimulate more for this time around and get at least two without hyperstimulating.
If this IUI cycle doesn't work I might do one more and then move on to IVF in August.  In any case, looking to see how often IUI worked for folks out there....

Alright ladies, just got word from the doc, my estrogen is 385. I was scared that they wanted me to trigger tonight. That has all changed.

I will do one more night of gonal f and then trigger on Tuesday night with IUI on Thursday!!!!  I am really happy with this decision, I really need at least one of those 13's to get up there so that I will have at least 2 mature follies to work with.  My follies were slower growing this time.  I am on day 11 and I'm still not ready with more than one mature follie.  Back in July, I was ready by day 9 and had my IUI on day 11.
Oh well, I guess every cycle is different.  At least the estrogen was a winner.  I'll let you know how it goes. Wish me luck!   ********baby dust to you**********************

So I just got back from the doc.  I have one follie at 17/18, and two at 13, one at 11.
She said that I will have one egg this cycle, however some of those smaller follies can grow before the procedure and release an egg as well.  So there could be possibly 2-3 eggs on this IUI, although that is not a definite.  I am not giving up hope just yet. I was just hoping to have 3 good follies by now.  Anyway, they will call me later and let me know what the plan is.  Maybe I will continue the meds for one more day to coax those 13 up a little!  ******baby dust to all********

Well I had another u/s yesterday (10/31) and i have follies that are 13.5, 11 and two 9's.  They said to continue the gonal f for two more nights and then come in on Monday morning. I am happy the way things have been progressing, but after the shot last night I had a headache and bad cramps. Ugh!  Anyway, I took Monday off and today is my six month wedding anniversary so I am just relaxing and enjoying the time off.  So I think I will have the IUI probably on Wednesday. Yay!  Wish me luck!  I hope you are doing well and hope to hear from you. ****baby dust****

I got AF yesterday!!  Betcha don't hear many people cheering about that on this board!!!!
It means I can finally start fertility treatment again this weekend. This will make it my 3rd IUI.  I am so excited!!!!   So, I'm still 39, so this is the last treatment I will have before I turn 40 and I am really hoping that this will be THE ONE!!!

Wish me luck and babydust to everyone!!!************

Hi Everyone,  I love reading these stories. I just started my 2nd IUI a couple of days ago. I have really sore, tender breasts and am very irritable!  I had high FSH (16.6), but went on a wheat free, dairy free, sugar free diet, with a shot of wheat grass every day, and it went down to 5.9 after 5 weeks.   FSH may fluctuate, but at least there was no talk about kicking us out for high FSH this time around!  I'm waiting and hoping...baby dust to all...keep your stories coming.

Hello again,

Well, I'm back and getting into the swing of things.  I met with the doctor the other day and, because of my insurance, I am required to have a third IUI.  I will begin in late October, just before Halloween.  Although I am not crazy about this method, I have to admit that it worked last time.  I just wish I could do IVF this time!  Oh well.

I am really looking forward to my next treatment. I decided to go on a diet right away and have lost 14 pounds, which is basically all the weight I gained during the pregnancy over the summer! I'm feeling good and my clothes are fitting again, its a nice feeling.  However, before I went on the diet my hubby and I drank like fish and ate our favorite foods. We had a ball!  It was really fun, anyway, I look forward to more weight loss and the next IUI!  2ww buddies, here I come!

Thanks so much for your kind words.  Everyone has been so supportive, it has really been great having people like you to talk to during all this fertility stuff.

My hubby and I are just ready to move on and excited at the prospect of IVF.  I just spoke with the head nurse today to get some more info about the process and such. It was really nice to get some of my questions answered and know that there is definitely a lot of hope still there. I will keep you all posted as news comes.  In the meantime, have a nice summer - I can't wait to have a beer!  :)   baby dust to all!

I'm so sorry :(  I know how this feels.  BUT make sure you go back for your US next week & you should really have them do another b/w.  JUST TO MAKE SURE!!!!!!!  SOMETIMES the little beans just start off smaller & they DO catch up!

You seem to have a great attitude :)  Hang in there!

Well my 2nd ultrasound came back and the baby is not developing normally. I am 7 weeks and the baby looks about 6 weeks. They said this indicates something wrong with the dna.
Baby will wind up a miscarriage but I will have a follow up ultrasound next week to make sure. Termination of the pregnancy will probably happen next weekend. :(
Sorry to bring such awful news, however, I am in good spirits and looking forward to doing IVF for the first time in the late fall. I have to wait a couple of months before I can start the process so I will use this time wisely.  The doctor said the pregnancy had nothing to do with anything but being 39.  I had a 10-12% chance of getting pregnant with IUI and of that, 30% usually miscarry.  So this was really a long shot for me.  With IVF I will have a 30% chance of pregnancy but still a 30% chance that each embryo could miscarry.  I will be able to squeeze in an IVF before I turn 40 so that is a good thing.
I am sorry to have to tell this to  you ladies at this time, but I wanted to let you know.
Keep pursuing your dream and try to keep a good, sensible attitude about it as I have. Baby dust to everyone!

Thank you panabee2 and grissco for your kind words.

This is why I like sharing all of my news, good or bad.  So many people have send me notes and, like you, have told me that it gives them hope to hear my news.
I really believe that having a week of vacation following my IUI is what did it for me. I was not stressed and didn't even think about pregnancy.  Stress can do a number on you.

I had the blood test yesteday and it was BFP with a beta of 266. Apparently that is a good number but it has to get to 532 by Wednesday, so we'll see.

In the meantime, lots of sticky baby dust to you!!!!

It was nice reading this it gives me some hope.
I completed 3 IUI's and 1 invitro.  THe last IUI I was called by my doctor told it was positive to come in the following Monday for a recheck then told it was negative.  It was a very hard blow for my husband and I.  My estrogen levels are very elevated right now so my doctor has me doing a natural IUI.  I hope I can be as blessed as you and come back in 3 weeks with good news.
I wish you the best of luck... keep us posted how the next 9 months are going..

OMG!!!!!  My pink line this morning was darker than it was yesterday!  My husband saw it and said that it is definitely there without a doubt!  My blood test is on July 20 - can't wait!  I just wanted to share that with you all. I'm 12dpiui and am age 39.  This will be our first baby. I wish I could scream it out to the world but I know I have to keep it on the DL for 3 months.  Yay!!!

Good luck to everyone....***baby dust*** all around!

Aidan was born from a 2nd IUI (Clomid, monitored cycle, Ovidrel trigger + IUI). I would do it all over again.

The little stinker sure liked to fool me though. I tested on day 10--negative. Day 13--Positive. Don't give up hope. Good luck to you and all the ladies.

So I took an HPT this morning and saw a faint pink line. I also saw one on the test yesterday. Really hoping its a BFP!  I showed my husband and  he saw it too.
I'm on 11dpiui(counting day of procedure as day 0).

I'm really quite excited but don't want to get too nuts about it right now, especially when AF could be lurking around the corner!

Good luck to everyone!

If I'm not preggers, then its on to IVF.  This should be an adventure!
Tjimenz10 good luck to you, you should know soon!  -pep

I am 36 and just completed my third IUI on Wednesday, July 2. I had about three mautre follicles this time (I also had three to four on the first two IUI's). This time however, in addition to the clomid and the hgc shot, I am also using progesterone. Tanker Chic, thanks for the encouragement. I was starting to give up hope. Peppypeep keep me posted.

Well I do my second IUI tomorrow!  I had three follies 14, 16 and 15.  Their hope is that the 14 matures in time. Took the trigger last night so bombs away!  Can't wait to get this done tomorrow, really excited this time with the possibility of more chances.  I have some time off so I will relax and try to get preggers!  Wish me luck, I'll post back in a couple of weeks. :))))

My son and my current pg are from IUI and over 35.  I was 36 when I got pg with my son, and I am 38 this time.  There are also many more of us who have had success with IUI over 35.  I dont' know if many of them still post in the fertility forum tho.

With my son I got pg on the third IUI and this time it took four IUIs.  Both times I got pg, I only had one mature follie..

Best of luck to you!!!
