Self Diagnosis

Well, I've officially self diagnosed myself with low progesterone :) ha ha.  Spotting 6-7 days (brown) before your AF is a sign of Low progesterone (so they say).  I think I am going to go to the Dr. this month to discuss. Do you know how they test and what they do for this?

Hi Kelly.

Is this a common problem or something that just started this month?

To test for it, I'm guessing they would probably wait until after you o and do a blood test to check your progesterone level.

Yeah if it is happening every month than something is definitely up.

I'm doing alright.  I'm trying to go with the flow 'for now' and do what the dr tells me.  I pretty much decided if I don't get bfp this month and dr doesn't want to get more aggressive, I going to go see another specialists and see what they have to say.  My next appt is on Wed cd 9.  I'll go in for a u/s and we'll see where my follies are.

It is only 9:00 a.m. here, and I'm already very board.  DH is working all day and I didn't plan anything with anyone else. I'm not even sure if I feel like doing much.  See I need a little one to be chasing around the house. :)

Hey I got a question for you, would it be strange to paint a babies room before you are pg?  Is that too over the top?

How are you doing?

I had a friend who had her baby's room completely done...read furniture and toys...2 years before she had a baby!  I say go for it!

I had this same issue-spotting between periods.  The first time it happened, about 12 years ago, I was found to have polyps and had them removed through D & C.  This happened to me again about 6 months ago, and I had an ultrasound, but no polyps were found. I then had a cd 21 blood test and it showed I had low Proesterone.  The test has to be done after you ovulate.  Since I was low, I was put on supplements (there are pills or creams) until AF arrived, then stopped taking the supplements, until the next cycle, day 21 blood test, and so on.
hope that helps

I painted the baby's room (well, dh did) in Nov at 6 or 7wks. I got mostly baby things for Christmas since it's been so long since there's been a baby in the family. I still have the room 1/2 way ready, I still pick up baby clothes when I see nice "non-gender" items. I have a sh*tload of maternity clothes hanging in the closet and no baby. But, by gosh when it does happen, I'll be ready, lol!!!!

I think it is okay too.  I used to think it was in someway wrong to do and I'm not even sure why, but I know I WILL have a family one way or another so why wait till the last minute??

They say if you can envision it, you can make it happen.  Maybe that is what I have been doing wrong??  Build it and they will come right??

That's it, I'm going to home depot right now.

Thanks!!

Oh, yeah, I say you can for sure do a non gender room. I'm kinda mad I totally pinked out for dd. I'm not quite the girly girl but whites, greens & yellows I would have preffered. DH is out of town till tomorrow. He's been gone since Tuesday. It's supposed to get nasty here in FL shortly I think.  My dd just became mobil, I have 2 dogs, what a pain :) I guess I should run to Target and get baby proofing! Let me know what you picked for your room or what your ideas are??

This happened to me a LOT over the last 2 years.  The Dr tested my blood for progesterone and it wasn't low, but he put me on progesterone gel suppositories.  That helped a little, but I later found that I had endometriosis (I didn't have a single symptom!!) and they now think that might have been the issue.  I had the endo removed, but now am on Lupron for 6 months with no AF, so I don't know if that was the solution or not...

Do you have any kids? I have 1dd and 1 miscarriage. My dd is only 8 mo. I didn't have a problem conceiving in the past. I don't know what the deal is :(

ya know some people say its bad luck to buy things to soon, blah blah blah.. but at the same time, We are told to think positive and we can make our own destiny etc.. thats according to that book the secret. I say whatever moves you do it. I look at baby things all the time. I got my names picked out,. My DH is just the opposite which is why we have not bought anything yet. so.. he lets me look and dream and plan. and i buy nothing for now.. gotta compromise somewhere right?

No, I don't have any kids.  We were trying for over a year, including two IUI's with no success.  I have bad mucus and - all that spotting!  Finally my Doc decided to do a laporoscopy and he found lots of endo.  I was totally confused, because I thought it was just low progesterone the whole time (like I said before, I had no symptoms), but I guess I developed endo late in life (I'm 31)and it was rearing it's ugly head as infertility.  Now, I have to be on Lupron and go through menopause for 6 months until it is completely gone!!

Had same issue. My RE put me on prometrium and the spotting subsided a little even though I still spotted. It helped me carry the baby thru the first trimester and I even had some bleeding then as well.
