Seman and Herpes

I'm trying to figure out if I can ever have kids now that I found out that I have herpes.  All the info I find talks about herpes in females,  but I'm depressed because I don't think someone can have my child without also getting my disease.  That's not something I could ever ask anyone to do.  I was wondering if maybe the virus could be removed from a seman sample and then used for artificial insemination.  This is all hypothetical and off in the future, but it would sure give me hope.

I knew a girl a long time ago who had it and the doc told her that she would just have to have a c-section to be safe. Other than that I do not know much. I think that it is ok, but to make sure contact a physician. Things will be ok

I agree with YvetteY. I have heard when you have an outbreak a condom can't protect your partner either but other than that you wouldn't be contageous. Have you talked to your dr or talked to someone about how you are feeling? Best wishes to you and I hope you feel better soon....

Thanks YvetteY.  I didn't know that it wasn't passed through seman.  Right now I feel like those hsv demons are crawling everywhere.  I can tell from reading this forum that many of you know what its like to mourn the child you've never had.

As far as I know the herpes is contagious when there's an outbreak.   This isn't something that is passed onto a child as far as genetics.  Worse case scenario...your future wife could be artifically inseminated.  The herpes virus isn't passed through the semen.
