TTC femara, metformin, and hcg trigger

Where do I begin? I am a 29yr old female and I have never been pregnant. 3mths ago I found out that I have PCOS. I had all the blood work done and it confirmed it. I had an HSG to make sure my tubes are open and they are. I had my first round of femara 2.5mg and metformin 500mg last month. Went back to the doc and he said no luck PCOS still in the way. Did a progesterone test and my level was 8.7 some docs say I ovulated some say I didn't I have no clue. AF arrived as to be expected and I did another round at 2.5mg amd metformin 1500mg. Went to the R.E. Specialist yesterday and had a u/s apparenltly femara does not like me at least not 2.5mg. She says I have lots of eggs they're just not big enough. The R.E. says up the femara 5mg metformin 2000mg and go back on cd10-12 to check and see if I have a follicle big enough and then I'll get an HCG shot. Has anyone ever had good results while on femara and what was the doseage? Has anyone ever been treated with the HCG trigger? I'm trying to be patient and wait but i'm having all kinds of dreams and everytime I'm around kids I just want to cry. I cried all day yesterday at the thought of not having kids. We're going to try this 2x and if this doesn't work we'll have to move on to injections and we don't have a lot of money for that. IUI and IVF is out of the question since she is just trying to get me to ovulate, which is my biggest problem I don't. Thinking about using OPK's to test for ovulation this round I really hope it works in the near future. My sister just found out that she was pregnant and we always said when one of has a child then the other one will also at least within a year. I am the only person in my family with this probrlem everyone else is normal. It hurts me to tell my family so it's just my bf and I. I feel hurt and happy at the same time I really just don't know.
Any kind of words would be great.
Thanx Baby Dust to all.

Congratulations on ovulating. I am not actively ttc any more but I would like to know that I can ovulate. I am still taking the metformin I want to get my periods on my own first. I'm thinking in about 6months I may start the femara 5mg then 7.5mg and ovulation kits.
Good Luck to you!!!

I found out that I had PCOS when I was 19yrs old. I am now 28 and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for a while. My doctor finally put my on Femara 7.5mg (which is $35 for 15 pills. WOW!). I had been taking Metformin 1500mg for years. Almost 2 weeks aga I got 3 positive results on my 3 ovulation kits and I just had some blood work done on Friday. I am waiting on the results between today and tomorrow. I have a lot of the symptoms but I don't want to put the cart before the horse. I have seen too many negative results to try and rush it. Although I am happy enough just to know that I was ovulating and the ovulation test came back positive. So if it turns out that we're not pregnant now, we know what to do next month. I wish you the best of luck!

I don't really know anything about femara so I can't comment on that. I don't really ovulate on mine own either or at least I'm pretty sure that I don't since I only have about one period a year if left to my own devices. I have PCOS and I am 30 and have never been pregnant either. The doctor put me on 50 mg. of clomid for 5 days. When they brought me in to check and see if the follicles were big enough they were almost there but not quite. So they went ahead and had my husband give me a shot two nights before I was to come in for my IUI (I know our situations are different and you aren't having an IUI or IVF) and the Ovidrel shot seemed to do the trick. I don't have a lot of money either for all of this and was very, very nervous about the cost of this shot. We checked around to every pharmacy on the list that our fertility doctor gave us. I wasn't sure if the insurance was going to pay for any of it or not. One pharmacy quoted us at $200 (no insurance paying) and one at $100, then one said they had it for about $85. We really came out OK though because the insurance did pay some and we came out having to only pay $36 out of pocket for what was to be the $85 shot. So I guess my point in typing all of that was just to say, call around a lot of different pharmacies. So after the shot my follicles were big enough and I had the IUI and had to go through the two week wait to see if I was pregnant or not. That was on May 18th and it, unfortunately, came back negative. I start back on the fertility meds. again tonight to start this all over again. They are going to treat me with something else besides clomid this time (I can't remember what they called it) because I had horrific hot flashes while on the clomid). I know that all of this is very painful to go through all of this and very frustrating. It's a lot worse than what I though it would be or what I expected it would be when we started out doing all of the tests, etc.. about 3 years ago. No one told me it was going to be this hard. No one else in my family has PCOS or endometriosis (my sister-in-law does but she has two kids so...) as I do and it is very difficult because you really do feel like you're all alone. You are not alone though. There are a lot of wonderful people on this site who are going through exactly what you are going through. You hang in there. Hopefull someone else who maybe has a little bit more experience who has a situation closer to yours will be able to chime in and be of more help than I am. I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and that this can happen for you. Good Luck!
