c section and fertility

Hi, I had my first baby in may 08 by c section. I want to try for my second but I have heard having a c section can aftect you fertility. Has anyone had any problems after a c section? or did it not make any diffirence? thanks x

I had an emergency c-section in June of 2010 after 6 days of labor, when it was discovered that my baby was breach.  I am now pregnant with baby number 2 who is due a week and a day after baby number 1's due date.  It took me almost 3 years to conceive my first baby, and only three months to get pregnant with a surprise baby right on the heels of the first.  I think fertility has more to do with your hormones and less to do with how you deliver.

I think the issue is less to do with how you have the baby and more to do with the fact your hormones can change after having a baby. I myself am the other way round .I spent 6 years and eventually had to do IVF to have my son. I got pregnant naturally when he was a year old. I would have the doctor due a hormone check on you. Some of your levels might be a little off.

MY DOC SAID C SECTION SHOULDNT AFFECT IT EITHER BUT I HAD AN EMERGENCY C SECTION WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD AND NEVER HAD PROTECTED SEX AND DONT GET PREGNANT. GRANTED CLOMID HELPED ME WITH MY SON ON THE FIRST TRY BUT I DID IT TWICE AGAIN LAST YEAR AND I HAD CHEMICAL PREGNANCY ON BOTH CLOMID TRIES I WAS THINKING IT WAS MY C SECTION EVEN THOUGH I KNOW TONS OF PEOPLE WHO GET PREGNANT SO EASY AND THEY HAVE HAD C SECTION SO FRUSTRATING

I don't think c-section has got anything to do with fertility. My SIL had her first two delivery through C-Section. She is pregnant third time and is going to deliver next month again through C-Section.

i had a c-section in 04 - unplanned.  also, we weren't trying to conceive at that time.  i've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now and no luck.  i don't know if the two are related but if you get more information i would love to hear about it.

good luck!
