clomid after pregnancy

Hi i was just wondering how long is recommended to wait to ttc again after childbirth?
my dd is nearly 10 week old and already i would like a sibling for her. we concieved on the first cycle of clomid and because i dont ovulate alone i am most likely going to need clomid to concieve again. do you think my doctor will prescribe it again so soon say if i wait until 3 months have passed.
Any replies would be very much appreciated

Hi and ty for your post.
i was unable to breast feed as she wouldn't latch on, she does prefer the bottle.
thanks for the advise i have an appointment sometime in the next 4 weeks with my specialist so will see what he recommends.

If you are breastfeeding your period probably wouldn't come back until 6 months.

I'd say at least 6 months after giving birth before trying again.  Talk to you doctor about it.

Hi and ty for your response.
The problem with me is I never had a real or natural cycle since I was 15 that's when my periods stopped, so I'm afraid they won't return either. Most of my friends who have had babies have had their first period 6 weeks after but my little girl is now 9 week 3 days old. I really do treasure every second I spend with her (after all it did take us a whole 5 years to achieve what we have)  and would like for her to have a brother or sister she can grow up with ideally about an 18 month age gap. I would of liked to breast feed but unfortunately she wouldn't take and after 24 hours of the midwives saying give her time I caved in, I really didn't like her not having a real feed.
Thanks again for your reply xx

The doctors tell you to wait at least 3 months because your body needs time to recover.  They also probably won't prescribe it so soon until they do some testing  because your body changes after childbirth and it may have kicked it into gear to ovulate on it's own.  If you are breastfeeding, they will probably tell you to wait until you are done with that until you try to conceive, since you more than likely won't have a normal cycle until a month or 2 after BF.  Give your body a chance to heal and enjoy your DD!!  congrats!!
