costs of IUI

I just had my first consult with the fertility clinic. I think that the iui is the rout we are going to go. I was wondering what the process you ladies went through and what meds were taken? Has anyone gotten preg from the iui? And is the injections better than using oral drugs?

I just found your question. Hopefully you are now pregnant, or close to getting there. I had 2 IUI's, each in conjunction with 100mgs Clomid and I got pregnant with twins! I know that injectables can have better results but are much more costly - you will have to check with your clinic on the cost difference. Hopefully you will have great luck on the cheaper stuff; it is possible. Best to you.

I didn't have to pay for mine since insurance covered it. I believe that the price can vary greatly depending on how many ultrasounds the doctor does and whether you do clomid or injections. The injections themselves are very expensive. Your best way to get an idea of your price is to check with your clinic. Some clinic's will give discounted prices to those who don't have insurance.

I did 2 IUI's using clomid and then a trigger shot. My 1st IUI I got pregnant but unfortunately lost the baby due to a blighted ovum. My 2nd IUI I got pregnant but it was ectopic. So IUI worked for me but I was just very unlucky. Your chances of getting pregnant are greater with IUI with injections, but so are you chances of multiple births. I am pregnant with twins now from IVF and believe me, I would never want to risk getting pregnant with more than just 2 babies. This pregnancy has been tough enough. Good luck!
