experience with opks as hpts?

I'm 10 dpo today.  At 7 dpo had a neg. blood test.  I'd had cramping that reminded me of implantation cramps with my 2nd child the night before the bloodwork (7 dpo).  Yesterday AM I decided to try an OPK (I have like 10 of them left, and they'll need thrown away anyway)... line as dark if not darker than control line.  Stayed there the whole day, but was a bit lighter depending on how diluted urine was.  This AM did it again... Still as dark a test line (compared to yesterday AM).  However, I took a HPT and if was BFN.  I know I'm not ovulating... I have a lot of CM, but it's NOT fertile.
I've read contradicting things, that OPKs are more sensitive, but also that they are less sensitive than HPTs.  Anyone ever gotten a dark + on an OPK, with a - on a HPT, and eventually the HPT turned +?

If you have the Answer brand opks in the tube, they say they are only good for one cycle. But, I have used them for 3 cycles and they were still accurate. You just need to keep the lid on them.

I know OPKs measure LH, but they also measure HcG b/c the 2 are SO similar. HPTs only measure HcG...  Using an OPK as an HPT can work for some but you have to also do HPT as a definitive answer, but it can give you an idea sometimes.  I was just wondering if anyone got positive results ever from using an OPK in the mid TWW?  I'd be interested in hearing about a positive story, just in case my dark lines actually mean ++.  I will do another HPT later on but I figured I'd use the Ostrips since they're useless next month!

OPK's measure LH while HPT's measure HCG, a different hormone.  When you are pregnant your body produces HCG.  The presence of LH does not imply pregnancy.

10 dpo is WAY too early for HPT.  Try testing again in a few days.
Good luck!
