I had been taking Metformin 3 times a day at the dosage of 500 mg. I had stopped taking it due to misinformation between two separate doctors. One diagnosed me with Type 2 diabetis, and the other with PCOS. They informed that the Metformin was to help with diabetis, but I did not have it and failed to let me know, it was for the PCOS too. So I am starting it up again. During the time I was taking it, I was experiencing the same effects as you ladies, bloatting, vomiting, diarrhea and feeling like absolute filth depending on my diet for that day. If you eat healthier foods, the side effects are lessened almost completely, so stay away from heavy foods like pasta, creams etc. During the time I was taking it, I was losing weight, some of you are expecting it to work right away but don't get your hopes up too soon, you need to allow it to be in your system for a few months for it to start working with you, instead of against you. My appetite was decreased, I felt fuller after meals and I was being told I looked great. My job at the time was cleaning hotel rooms, so the added exercise was just helping along with the weight loss. Like they always say, don't make exercise a chore, just incorporate into your daily life. Walk to the store instead of taking your car! Hope this helped ladies

After nearly a year of TTC and irregular cycles my OBGYN put me on Metaformin 500 mg twice daily for the first week and then three times day the following weeks. I do have monthly periods, although it varies in time between periods and the number of days on each period. I also ovulate monthly (based on home ovulation tests and cervical mucus tests). June 2010 I had an HSG test and my tubes are wide open.

So far, I have learned not to test the low carb / low fat restrictions for Metaformin... I tested it over the weekend and it tore up my stomach to put it nicely.

I was wondering if anyone else that has not been diagnosed with PCOS was prescribed it and if it worked for them.

Hi I have been taking metformin 1500mg once a day for about a year now, I had a couple days when i felt sick but i feel fine now.  I am on the extended release you should talk to your doctor about switching you to metformin ER the side effects are less and you only have to take it once a day!

Just recently my doctor prescribed me the wrong meds and it was Metformin. I should not have taken it because it has nothing to do with what I have. I have been sick now for 2 days after only taking 1 500mg pill. I have vomiting, diarrhea...how long does it take until it is out of my blood stream to where I am feeling normal again? I feel like I have the flu!!  Its aweful!!

Its what You want to do.  I got off all my meds because of the fact I was feeling So terrible all the time.  I tried this natural stuff, and I feel wonderful.  But of course it is what you want to do.  If you trust the doc's and what they do, and willing to stick with the meds then do that.  I was lucky enough to find a doc who is working with my natural stuff, and still gives me the medical point of view also.

Hi,

I think i have been one of the luckiest few with Metamorfin because i got no single problem - i started it on 6th March , twice a day - i also take it with my meals - i had read alot about it and i had to take precautions. The only problem is that it hasnt helped me with weight loss and despite my exercise routine (1 hr of step aerobics 5 time a week) and my diet - my weight is shifting at a snails pace.

I took clomid this last cycle. Af is not expected until after 4th May (thats if this time am getting a 28 cycle - cause they have been very irregular). I have been feeling bloated and a little twingling in my left bb - i dont want to raise my hopes and am not going to test until i get full blown morning sickness - i have had so many disappointments of BFNs - i dont want to go there again. Dh doesnt take it well either.

I took metformin for a while.  I was so sick from it!!!  I was diagnosed with pcos and my husband and I wanted kids soon.  I finally told the doc that I couldnt stand  being sick from the meds.  I went out on a limb and ordered some natural vitamins off the net to help with pcos.  The success stories are amazing, and people who were told they could never have kids, got preg!!  I've only been on it for a week now, but I can already tell the difference.  Want to know more?  visit www.insulitelabs.com  for the PCOS.  Good luck!

I am taking it 1 time a day. I make sure I eat with it. But yeah, I generally feel lousy with all this freaking medication! Good luck!

Hello.  I took metformin for 2 years, and felt sick for pretty much the whole time I was taking it.  It would have been worth it if it had worked for me, but I actually just found out that I don't have PCOS, which is what it was meant to treat.  I wish you luck, and hang in there.  I hope it works for you!
