im so scared...

i am a 20 year old woman, who has not had a period in about two years. i am not on any form of birth controll, (though i am not trying to get pregnant), but my fear is that when i go to the the doctor's later on next month, she'll tell me that i can't have children in the future. i have been told that it is dangerous not to have had a period for so long, but i assumed it was just my body, being somewhat of a late bloomer, at least when it comes to a period. i did not recieve my period untill i was seventeen years old, and only have had it three maybe four times officailly. i guess my question or questions are, are my chances for having a baby  nonexistant? and do i still release eggs in my body that can be fertilized with out having  a period. i know im a little to young to worry about having babies, but it is something i want in the future. please, someone please help me!

I am also anovulatory. I have never ever had a regular period. I did get pregnant 9 years ago by the grace of god and had a healthy baby girl. I am no trying to get pregnant again, it was 5 years that I had no period, The meds I took brought my period on, and was finally diagonosed with hypothalmic ammenorhea, My hypothalmus in the brain does not tell the ovaries to ovulate, I had all sorts of tests done, including MRI to rule out any type of pituitary tumor all came back negative. Its just the way I am I can completely understand your fear, but with technology improving everyday your chances of having a baby get better and better all the time. talk to you doctor and voice your concerns, and be sure to let us know how you made out. we are all here for you, to offer any advise we can, and be supportive.. good luck to you

I agree with the other ladies on here... PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or anovulation (you don't ovulate).  My period was VERY screwed up when I first got it (I went an entire year before the next one showed up) and it's been messed up ever since.  And I have PCOS and anovulation... both of these problems can be worked around.  Of course there's no guarantee, but like Helen said, there are drugs such as Clomid and Injectable meds that can help you with that problem.  Injectables worked wonders for me!  Good luck with your doc appointment.

No period often times means no ovulation.  However, there are many prescription drugs available these days (like clomid) that will help you ovulate.  I hope your doc will provide you with some answers.

Ask to be tested for polycystic ovarian syndrome.

It's hard to tell what's happening here.

There are a lot of causes for women not having periods - if you're significantly overweight,  or you exercise to the extreme,  or if you have a thyroid disorder,  etc.

It depends on what the cause of your lack of periods is,  what your chances are of conceiving a baby in the future.  There are drugs that will make most women who aren't ovulating,  ovulate.

Best wishes - it's very hopeful that this can be overcome.
