not ovulating on clomid

Has anyone else not responded (NOT OVULATED) after taking 50 and 100 mg of clomid?  What does this mean? What is the next step?  Should I be worried that I will never get pregnant?

Women who suffer from anovulation [when the ovaries do not release an egg on a monthly basis] due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome - PCOS [when there may be cessation of periods, irregular periods, or heavy bleeding due to ovarian cysts], are prevented from conceiving because of their medical condition. Clomid, the "fertility drug", takes care of this. Due to increased ovulation, such women may give birth to twins, or even triplets.
This medication is sometimes prescribed to men who face fertility problems because of low sperm counts. Clomiphene not only increases the sperm count in such individuals, but also increases the sperm motility [ability to swim over to an egg], which helps in fertilizing the egg.

I had my ultrasound yesterday and after taking the 100 mg of Clomid, NOTHING! I have a 4 year old daughter and only had to take Metformin for my PCOS and got pregnant easy. I have been taking 850 mg of Metformin twice a day and first took 50 mg of Clomid and this time 100 mg.My doctors said we'd keep trying there are many options yet. He said I could go up to as much as 250 mg of Clomid. He also mentioned trying another drug if we wanted. My sister had to take all the meds and do IUI after trying to get pregnant ofr 9 years, she's due 9-5.

I had the same problems when i was a little younger than I am now...When my primary physician found out with the different medications didnt work my menstraul cycles...he made me make an appointment with a Nurse Practitioner (Who also is an endocrinologist), she noticed the main symptom of what I am about to say: irregular menstrual cycles with and without those medications...so she did some tests on me and found out I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome...

I've also heard other people say they took it for many months and didn't o, but then tried it again at a lower dose and on different cycle days..  And it worked for them. For example cd 5-9 vs cd 3-7.

you can also try femara if you doctor has a protocol for it.  it works in a different way but is basically similar to clomid (take it days 3-5).  you could mention it to your doctor.  It might be worth it to try it before moving on to injectibles which are expensive and time consuming.  It is best to see a reproductive endocrinologist too - they will monitor all your cycles closely (perhaps you already are but I thought I'd mention it in case you were not).  femara worked for me (9w2d right now!!)!!  Good luck!

Hey-
  I started on Clomid a few months ago.  I had absolutely no response on the 50mg.  The doctor said I ovulated on 100mg but it was not a "quality ovulation".  On 150- I did not ovulate again.  So, now he has me on Femara.  This is my 1st round with it (on the lowest dose).  I will find out if it was successful next week.  
  My doc said that there are so many options with medications and combinations of medications that most women can have successful ovulation induced- its just a matter of finding the right combination for you.  Don't give up hope- I haven't.

I'm on my 7th (and last) month of taking clomid.  i started with 50 mg, and o'd the first month.  the 2nd month 50mg and no ovulation.  month 3 100mg and ovulated.  month 4 100mg, and no ovulation.  month 5 150mg and no ovulation.  month 6 200mg and ovulated.  month 7.....i should o on monday.  i'm going in for an ultrasound so she can check the follicles.  if she sees mature ones, they'll give me a trigger shot.  i'm crossing my fingers and praying every day that THIS will be our month.   IF this doesn't work, we're going to call it quits for a while....."officially trying", that is.  a friend of mine let me borrow her ovwatch, although i didn't get it until day 5 of my cycle and the latest day you can use it is day 3.  so.....i will possibly be using that next month.   we've been married for 13 years and finally feel like we're ready to be parents and raise a family.  i often wonder if we waited too late (i'm 35), but i got to thinking.......our perfect time isn't God's perfect time.  so, i'm hopeful and we're beliveing for a miracle (and hoping everyone on this board gets their miracle too!!).  :)

Ditto to what Meagan said. There was a poster some time back that went to 250mg b4 o! Many who went to other options, too. Clomid isn't right for all, but is a good place to start. :)
