I am 30 years old. I had a successful pregnancy at 24. I had 3 consecutive miscarriages in the last year and a half. The pattern was the same in all three case, lower progesterone levels. After the first miscarriage , I was asked to take baby aspirin and prometrium with the subsequent pregnancy. I anyway miscarried. I was referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. He checked for genetic disorders in both me and my husband. He did the clomid challenge test , checked for abnormalities in the uterine wall , checked thyroid level , blood sugar. Everything came back normal. The next time I got pregnant , he put me on heparin shots along with prometrium and baby aspirin. No use , I miscarried again.
We are trying to concieve again. This is the line of treatment suggested by my doc. He wants to take femara , injectible fertility drugs followed by ovadril shots. He is also recommending IUI , will start progesterone supplements and heparin shots after I get a positive pregnancy result. He is not guaranteeing success with this treatment also.
My questions are : 1.I did not need help getting pregnant before. In all 3 cases I got naturally pregnant within 2 or 3 cycles. Do I really need these fertility drugs ? What if I try to naturally get pregnant and then start progesterone supplements after that ?
2. What good are these drugs if they are not going to assure me that I wont miscarry?
I feel my doctor is just pattern matching and is not trying to actually solve my problem. It has worked for other people , so you try it as well . Will I be taking a big chance by not following this fertility treatment ? Please help .
