Ivf is a good way to go and if your in Australia I think you can claim from Medicare I looked into it four years ago but before I can start treatment I fell pregnant normally had a beautiful baby girl four years later we tried to have another baby fell pregnant so easily but it was an ethopic pregnancy and just today I had my sujery to remove the pregnancy I feel terrible about losing my baby everytime I look at my tummy I'm reminded about my baby not sure how I'm going to cope. So I understand how you feel and I'm really sorry but never give up keep trying.

I also had an ectopic pregnancy in 2005, 2 years after my son was born, and unfortunately had to have my left tube removed.  I still have both ovaries. After that it took me 6 months to conceive my daughter who is now 4 : )  We have recently decided to try for one more and in my own research, I've read all over the internet misleading information given by doctors to people posting.
If you have 1 tube but 2 ovaries, it IS possible for the "good" tube to pick up the opposing released follicle.  The view of our reproductive systems is not 2D like it may seem but in fact the egg is released into a sort of cul-de-sac and though generally it is picked up by the corresponding tube, if there is only one tube with the fimbria of only one tube trying to pull it over, that tube on the opposite side CAN actually pick it up.  Like I said it may not be 100% all the time, but its far from impossible!
ALSO, you do not ovulate alternatively, right then left, then right then left, you ovulate from ANY ovary on either side on any given cycle, sometimes one ovary generally produces healthier ones that grow bigger and faster and that side can ovulate for months before the other side will. Sometimes though not common you can ovulate from both, its just not so black and white.  No one knows what will happen in one persons TTC journey, I dont know how long it will take me or if it will even happen at all, if I will have another ectopic, etc.  I think the most important thing and the hardest thing lol, is to try really hard to think positive and know that our bodies are somehow made to try to correct things on their own that may go wrong, that's why we have 2 of both : )  And on the other hand, we're lucky that if things do go wrong and we lose both, the medical world is able to help us along.
Baby Dust to EVERYONE (including me : )

I had my 1st tubal surgery the 18th of november 08 and I had a second 1 january 22 09. 2 months apart. And 8 months after that I conceived my baby girl. She is now 5 months and very healthy! I got pregnant 3 times in 1 year. So don't lose hope.  I had a 20% chance of ever having babies and here I sit with a beautiful baby girl. Only 8 months after my 2nd tubal.

I also had a ectopic pregnancy but my doctor couldn't find what was wrong at first. I had severe cramping and spotting at the time. They did 2 ultrasounds, then she suggested for me to go into surgery to see if it was ectopic, cause my pregnancy was not normal and i would miscarry later in the future. come to find out they found cyst on both of my tubes, and it was ectopic as well. Me and my husband try to get pregnant for 2 yrs and I believe the cyst was blocking it from happening. when i did get pregnant it, I guess it somehow turn out ectopic. I was 5 wks preg when it happened and that would of been my 2nd child. Its really heart breaking though, cause it just hit me that I lost something apart me to.

i am really sorry for what you have to go through. it is really hard. but you said its rare to have 2 ectopics, this was my swcond ectopic and they both resulted in surgery. so my dr is pushing me towards ivf, and i really dont have the money for that. i was really hoping i could do it naturally.
i will keep my fingers crossed for the both of us.

Hi there, i just thought i would share my story with you, i recently lost my baby 3 days before xmas, hence my user name.  I new i was prrgnant but showed no signs of extopic, until the day i was rushed into hospital aftr collapsing, my tube had ruptured, which i had to have removed.  I lost 45% of my bodies bloody resulting in tranfusions.  This was my first pregnancy and i have no understanding why this happend as both tube were in fine working order, no scaring and no real explanation.  I was in hospital for a while and off work for over a month a half, i had to go back each week for blood to be taken as my level were not going down as they should do.  i have now been told that i have 5% chance of concieving which has devestated me, but i try to keep positive the best i can which isnt easy as i would be due in 8 weeks time and at he moment i am on count down!! week by week!!! i have since spoke to many ppl and friends who have experienced this who have gone on to healthy pregnancy, so i am praying that this will be the case for me too!!! im sure that you will go on to be fine, it is rare that someone has tow ectopics so i have been told.  i hope me sharing this helps a little with things.
good luck

thanks. but im still so worried im not going to be able to concieve. this was my second surgery for ectopic, i had the same surgery 8 years ago, but they didnt remove the tube, this time they had to, and it was on the same side, so maybe thats why it happened again, because i had scar tissue from the previous ectopic.

Yes, we knew the pg was ectopic and I was given the methatrexate to disolve the pg, but I ended up rupturing later that day.  They did lap. surgery and did not completley remove my tube but took out a "chunk" so the tube is no longer functional.  I know you are going through a trying time, but hang in there.  We had ttc for four years before having out baby girl and we were devestated with the ectopic, but it did reasure us that we could conceive.  Good luck to you.

When we had our ectopic, RE said we could start ttc again after i had a period, which was about 6 weeks.  We conceived 5 months later and have a healthy 3 mo old baby girl.  Just keep in mind it may take a little longer because you will have to ovulate from your left side.  Best of luck to you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy. I'm not really sure how long it is advised to wait after the surgery, but in a normal miscarriage, they usually suggest waiting until you've had three normal periods before trying again.

Best of luck to you!
