I agree it is dangerous (or impossible) with a blocked tube if the blockage is scar tissue and calcium deposits. If the sperm can even get up the tube, the chance of a fertilized egg being unable to get back down is very high, meaning an ectopic and all that it risks (loss of tube to loss of life). IVF is fast and a lot more sure than tubal surgery. By all means talk to another specialist, have an HSG, the whole thing, but get ready for IVF to be your main way past this.
Trying to get pregnant with a blocked tube is highly risky, you run the risk of an ectopic pregnancy and further damaging that tube. Definitely see a specialist and figure out your options. Good luck to you!
I used to be able to get pregnant on my own, but unfortunately my tubes became blocked. Doctors were unable to figure out what may have caused the damage. I was told I would have to do IVF in order to get pregnant. I researched and met with several fertility specialists trying to avoid IVF, but they said if my tubes were damaged it wouldn't be possible to get pregnant naturally because my eggs wouldn't have a way to travel. I asked my doctor about removing the blockage, but she said it may make it worse because it could potentially cause more scar tissue. I finally had to bite the bullet and get IVF. I got my tx 3/30 and I am now pregnant. I would meet with different fertility specialists and ask them what your options are. I hope it works out for you.
