when to take clomid after miscarriage...irregular

I am 31, have a healthy 4 yr old, and recently had a miscarriage (first one).  I've been married for 8 yrs. and have never prevented pregnancy, and have only been pregnant the 2 times mentioned above.  I miscarried at about 7 weeks...not sure because periods are very irregular.  It is common for me to go 2-3 months w/out one.  Obviously, I do not ovulate regularly.  It has been 2 weeks since miscarriage began.  Bleeding has stopped & hcg was at 8 yesterday.  My dr. wrote me a prescription for clomid and said to start after first regular menstrual cycle.   Problem is, I don't know when that will be.  I may not ovulate for several months.  I am taking the clomid to regulate my cycle & to ovulate.  What will happen if I go ahead & take now, rather than waiting, since I may not ovulate for many months?

Since my periods were very irregular too, my doctor had me taking birth control pills for a month after the D&C, and then taking I took Clomid once my period comes. However, this cause me to get pregnant again right away that ended up being ectopic; I think this happened because my uterus was still inflamated from the miscarriage and my tube got blocked. My dr. didn't confirm my theory. Just to be on the safe side I would wait at least 3 months to try getting pregnant again.

hello, i am quite similar to you except for a few factors. I am 40, have a 22mth old son conceived natuarly, then I had ivf as I do not ovulate , very irregular and had been on clomid previously which didnt work(just gave me  a damn cyst holding up the start of the ivf)anyway I the ivf did work but I miscarried at 6-7 weeks. The bleeding stoppd after 7-8 days and we just started trying again natuarlly. I went to the dr and my progesterone level was less than 1 so i was not ovulating, the dr put me back on clomid which AGAIN has given me a cyst, I am now on birth control pill which will shrink it but will DEF not go back on clomid)for some people it overstimmulates and causes cysts which will prevent pregnancy anyway) So just be careful, I don't know if the miscarriage then taking clomid had anything to do with the cyst forming. wishing you best luck at becoming pregnant, we will carry on trying too, lots love melissax
