Hi there - if you are taking clomid because you do not ovulate regulary (if this is the case you will have very few or no periods) then your chances of getting pregnant with clomid are probably 25% the first month, and about 40% after three months, and you do not need intrauterine insemination.
If you are being given clomid and the gonadotropin shot for unexplained infertility, then it would be best to combine the treatment with intrauterine insemination at the time of ovulation. Is this happening? If so, your chances each month are about 8%, with a 20%-25% chance of being pregnant after three months. If this is your problem, you might want to consider other treatment options if not pregnant after three months of trying.
If you have unexplained infertility (regular periods, open fallopian tubes, normal sperm count) then I would not recommend clomid and gonadotropins without also doing intrauterine insemination since the chance are so much better when fertility drugs and IUI are combined for unexplained infertility.
Good luck!
i am on my second round of clomid, i was hoping for the first to work, but i didn't even ovulate. the dr had to put me on provera to start my period and will be on my second round next week. every woman is different. just make sure you monitor your ovulation carefully. get the home ov kits, and take your temp every day. and have sex every other day for a week before and during ovulation. good luck to you. i hope it works for you, it was pretty disappointing for me when i didnt even ovulate, but i have faith that this time around will work.
let us know what happens.
I got pregnant with my first round of clomid but it ended at 9 weeks in miscarriage. I have also had a shot of HCG, but it didn't work for us.. Just remember that everyone is different so don't go by my story... Best of luck to you!
