Hi, my husband and struggle for 8yrs trying to get pregnant. I found out i had pcos, polycystic ovarion syndrome. I waz told by 3 specialits i would never get pregnant. That was in 2004. At end of july of 06 i started seeing a chiropractor. Now mind you i tried metformin, clomid, and iui which none took. 2days after christmas of 06 i found i was pregnant. My suggestion and thats all it is is a suggestion is to see a reprod dr to see if you have pcos, try what they recomend, dont give up faith, dont give up trying and also to help with what you are doing, try seeing a chiropractor. The nerves that are connected to that area of our bodies could be pinched and nit rrceiving messages they are suppose to to work properly. I use to be a skeptic of chiros and did not want be twisted into a pretzel but i gave it a chance and now i have a beautiful 5yr old little girl. Though we are struggling to get pregnant witb #2. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi!
It depends on your age how soon I would begin to worry.  If you are over 30, I would begin a work up after 6 months. If you are under 30, I don't tend to get to worried for about 12 months.  After 12 months, the first thing I would recommend to my own patients to check is whether the woman is ovulating regularly--this can be done by charting periods and using ovulation predictors.  If you like trackers check out this page of the site:

I also like to do a semen analysis for the male partner.  A regular gynecologist or infertlity specialist could help you get started.
Good luck!
